Lackluster Detail?

Well, I finally took my new WRX in to the local highly recommended detail shop, "Executive Detail" in Greenville, SC to get the acid rain etching removed from my car. From what I could see so far in the sunlight, the etching is still there. They couldn't get out the tree sap blobs either. :wall As well, there is wax residue EVERYWHERE. On my clear bra borders, in the fuel door, on the wing, in curves of fenders, window trim etc etc. :ranton WTF!? I've never had anyone else detail my cars and I couldn't imagine this is an acceptable practice...is it? I don't know what to do. The dealer that I bought the car from sent me a check to cover the work, so I'm not out anything, but I'm no better off than before. Do I simply have to live with the acid rain spots?

They used a rotary, but I'm not even sure the guy doing the work was told by the owner that he was removing a defect and not simply "detailing" the car. :nono I never saw them talk and I waited there until the work started. I'm so pissed right now. Why can't people take pride in their work?

Unfortuneatly poeple see detailing as just a job and not a way of living like most of us. They dont really care how the car looks as long as they get paid at the end of the day. I woudl reccomend to find someone who lives close to you here on DC to help bring back your car. So were do you live?

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Sounds like the guy who "detailed" your car was no detailer at all just a certified car washer. Its always good to check out the shops yourself rather then go by word of mouth because what is good for someone else may not be for you.

I might be relocating near the Greenville area. Maybe we can hook up and talk detailing. I think the shop you went to is a franchise of a shop based in Atlanta Ga. That shop did some pretty good work.

^ Hey Scrub. Thanks for the offer, but ya know, this is another potentially good hookup that I'm going to miss out on because I'm moving back to Buffalo next week. That would be great to talk shop with someone that appreciates detailing as much as we do. What are you coming to Greenville for? It's nice here, I'm kinda bummed to be leaving, but at the same time I'm glad to be going back "home". The other potential hookup I got was to assist a local pro photographer with his Hooters model shoots. I just met him yesterday, and he said he'd love me to help him. Ughh. What timing. :doh

I'm looking at a job in Williamston SC. If I get an offer, I won't know for a few weeks.

Maybe next time. Good luck in your move.

Edit: What was I typing??
