KSG + AW plans

I'm planning on putting a sealant on my car for the first time and had a couple of questions. I will be doing an ONR wash on the car, followed by an application of KAIO, then KSG, then AW after every couple of washes (so maybe once every two to four weeks).



1. If I'm going to top the KSG with AW that often, do I need multiple layers of KSG? If so, how many would you recommend?



2. If I'm topping the KSG with AW, do I ever need to redo the KSG layer, or will keeping layers of AW on top of it make it unnecessary? If I need to redo it, how often should I do a KAIO + KSG procedure?



This is for my daily driver. I would like it to look good (to a layman's eyes, which is what I am ) but it doesn't need to ever be showcar perfect.

What I would do is use 3 layers of KSG initially. After 3, any additional layers doesn't seem to help very much in durability. If you live in a winter state, I put another layer of KSG just before winter then use a similar spray wax product over winter during my ONR washes. For the spring detail, start over KAIO, KSG 3 times, 1 time before winter, then spray wax. Maybe one layer during mid-summer also.



KSG will not bond to AW, so once you apply AW, don't bother with KSG anymore. If you want to add some KSG, you will need to start over with KAIO, etc. Sounds like I have a very similar method what you are describing. If you follow it, you'll love the shine, protection, water beading and easy upkeep during washes. Good luck.

Differing experience here, and dramatically so. I find that 3-4 layers do provide a minimum baseline of decent durability (i.e., equal to or better than Collinite wax), but it's only with six or more that I can get the durability that I use KSG for. In fact, I quit using 3-4 layers for my wheel LSP because it didn't last long enough; I now either layer it a lot more heavily than that or, more often, just use somethig else.



Not inteneded as an :argue or anything, and there are zillions of variables that can factor in, but if/when I don't get a nearly permanent coating out of my heavily layered KSG I don't bother using it. With fewer (e.g., 4 or so) layers I was lucky if I got through a tough Winter without needing to redo it come Spring.



And FWIW, I wouldn't top the KSG because I'd want to add more later, or at least spruce it up with a bit of Sonus Acrylic Spritz.

No sweat - I end up putting about 5 layers over a few months so probably why we are having good results in durability. I do a spring detail regardless since I have a lot of tar, grime from rough winter also, any polishing needed, etc.
