Krazy glue.

Hehe... Pretty sure this one is a lost cause, but I thought I'd ask anyway, just in case.



Yesterday one of my friends asked what gets out krazy glue... I smiled, shook my head and asked what the glue had attached itself too. She opened up her door and showed me. The flat plastic below her ashtray and in front of the shifter had what looked like a full tube of krazy glue that had oozed out and set up. Stuff seems to bite pretty hard into plastic.



So, on the off chance anyone out there has ever found a solution, besides replacing the part, to this problem I though I'd throw it out there.

there are Crazy Glue-specifc solvents. Problem is, they may end dissolving stuff you don't want dissolved.
 
The kray glue probably even "melted" the platic anyway so if you do get the glue off the plastic will most likely already be ruined.

This is very true. Acetone is a solvent that I often use to dissolve Krazy Glue, but, unfortunately, it will dissolve many plastics as well.
 
Crazy glue does not hold up very well under water, the recourse for getting it in your eyes is to do nothing as the moisture in your eyes will slowly dissolve it. Not sure how you would keep the area wet, possibly damp towels. Might be worth a shot. I'd try to remove all but the last 1/8" or so first unless it is spread pretty thin.
 
Not krazy glue but a bottle of Glade's car perfume somehow exploded and carved into my friend's brand new Passat 2.0 FSI' s dashboard. The dealer denied any help due to some outside cause. So we had to wipe down the entire area and surrounding (the center console) with cellulosic thinner and wrapped it all up with carbon fiber sheeting. Now the console looks like the "Sportline" series... He says he will go buy one more sheet so we cover the door handles, air vents and hand brake lever...



Could that be an idea for you too ??
 
It's a very interesting idea, however the vehicle in question is a 92 Honda Accord with 200+K on the clock. So probably not worth the money! ;)

I'll probably just call around to the local pick-n-pulls to see what is available, thanks for all your help though.

Well you do not necessarily have to buy genuine carbon fiber; may as well use some foil sold at Walmarts, Sears or so... I once saw a young lady overing her center console with a foil which had pictures of pink puppies on it !!! It was a Nissan Micra at a weird green (they call it pistachio green here if it rings a bell...



You' ve got lots of options if you want to cover it with a foil...
 
Go to a Hobby shop that carries remote control cars and planes. Ask the guy to find this:

Be sure to do a test spot first, but that should work.
