Klasse SG wasn't that hard to remove!

Put my first coat of KSG after applying my second coat of AIO on my truck today. I probably put it on thicker than I should have. I waited about 1 hour for it to dry then removed it with a 100% cotton towel and a MF.

I wouldn't say it was easy, but it was very difficult either. I was expecting it to be MUCH harder. Hope to get a second coat on tomorrow.

Watch out for haze. I started to see a lot of haze after the second coat of KSG. That was my first time using Klasse. To avoid haze next time I will try to use much less KSG and I'll wipe it off with a damp MF like people suggested here on autopia.

Do you mean haze after you buff it off?

I'm planning on putting on 3 coats of KSG (2nd coat tomorrow and 3rd coat next weekend) before apply P21S.

I started a little late today so I was in a hurry. Tomorrow I plan to pay better attention to the amount I apply, and do one small section at a time.

Are you satisfied with KSG?

Yes I am very satisfied with its durability. I put 3 coats of KSG after one coat of AIO. But like I said, I need more practice with KSG. I started noticing haze after I buffed off the second coat, before I started on the 3rd coat. After the 3rd coat I noticed even more haze, having been driving around for a few days. The haze was still visible after first wash. Then it disappeared, I tried to wipe it off with a slightly damp MF (after I noticed the haze problem I read here that using damp MF helps get rid of it)

Good luck, and if you can, post some pics when you are done.

I knew from this forum that applying too much KSG is a mistake, but several times I caught myself apply more than I intended. Guess that comes from years of applying conventional waxes.

Being a newbie, I'm not sure if I had to do it over if I would have purchased KSG. It's removal wasn't very difficult, but it is hard to "see" when you're applying it.

In hindsight I may have tried AIO + UPP, or AIO then straight to P21S. Of course this opinion may change after the 3rd coat of KSG.

SG gets better looking after the first 3 or 4 coats. 5 is the most layers I would put on. I had more than 20 layers on at one point. I wanted to get all the pracitce I could. ;) I've got a white car and that has to be the ultimate test in Klasse SG application. Its sooooo hard to see it when you put it on and even tougher to see it as you buff it off. The most effective way I found to get it off was to just wash the whole car again. lol It was a tradition for me for awhile. I would wash the car after a coat of SG to help buff it all off, but mostly I just wanted to see those beautiful beads. mmmmmmm :D

When people say Klasse haze it really isn't like a haze but more like fine swirls on the paint. Kind of like streaky lines that seem to float above the surface.

I got them when the first time I used Klasse SG.

Once I started doing a dry buff with a MF towel to get as much off and then running over it again with my Orbital and a MF bonnet I stopped getting it. Key is to apply it thin and make sure it is all gone!

Unfortunately I don't own a orbital. But I had success with the 100% cotton towel and MF. I'd remove with the towel then step back and pick up any haze with the MF. Of course, I'm talking about the first coat of KSG, so ... if I have problems I'll consider other techniques I picked up here.

NHBFAN, I'm not sure if you've read any of my posts about how I did my Klasse layers, but I've found fogging the surface up with your breath to be a useful tool to check application (sometimes) and to check how well you've buffed it out. I was satisfied when the fog looked even and perfectly streak-free. Of course I found using this method of checking was the high road to obsessive pickiness though. :p

Thanks, 4DSC

I may give that a try.

Being a newbie I'm not sure if I'm that OC yet though. Besides I have a full size truck and I'm not a young man anymore. I'd be pretty out of breathe and possibly overdose on KSG vapors.

The AIO/UPP and the AIO/S100(P21S) combinations work really good for me. All three products are very easy to apply and remove, no haze, and look great. Might be worth some experimenting on one section.

Another suggestion, when buffing off KSG use Sonus QD. I bought some last week and used it this weekend with astonishing results. I love that stuff. If it werent for rock chips my car would be perfect. KSG + Sonus create a very bright and shiny layering around the car.

Applied the 2nd coat of KSG today. It was even eaiser than the 1st coat. Guess I'm getting use to putting it on thin now. Using the cotton towel and MF works great for me. The cotton towel gets the bulk off and the MF gets the remainder.

I have a bright red truck. I'd hate to think about how hard it would be to apply and remove KSG on a light colored or white finish.

SG applied thinly on a light colored car (whitek, silver) can be hard to see.like residue, application and haze. Does anyone know if bright, halogen lights make it easier to see?

BoTuerk- Welcome to Autopia! For SG application, you quickly learn to get complete coverage even if you don't see it happening; if in doubt, go over an area some more. More light is usually better than less, but on silver, even with halogen lights I end up fogging the panel with my breath during removal. When I did an SG application this last weekend, I didn't even bother getting out the halogens, so I'd say they don't help me much.

I'd be concerned that Sonus is such a lubricate that it would compromise KSG's protection.

If I remember right, Sonus is a CMA creation meant to compliment the Klasse system actually. I'd use it if I had it. :)
