Klasse AIO/SG and UPP pics

Here is the BMW 740. I used Klasse AIO and SG.

It's hard to make a real direct comparison since the sun seems less intense on the VM/CMW pics, but I think it shows how reflective the AIO/SG combo is compared to a carnauba combintation, while VM/CMW is deeper looking, IMO. Again, since the lighting isn't 100% equal, your results may vary!

Now onto the UPP experiment!



I polished my car initially with Meguiars Swirl Free Polish since I had done the Poorboy's PwC/EX/Natty Paste Wax combo about 4-5 weeks earlier (btw, after running it through the local gas station touchless car wash twice and 2 QEW washes when I actually had some time) was still quite slick. I then followed with Klasse AIO for a nice base for UPP.



Here is the side of my car after using Swirl Free and AIO:

Very shiny and reflective, right? Now see what happens after using UPP:

Instant wetness! And, I might add, not too bad looking for paint that will be 14 years old in January!

You took the stickers off your back windshield. When did you take those off? I remember that you used to have your phone number and stuff back there.



The car looks great, dude. I don't see any difference in the black ones, but I can see it on yours. Maybe its just the angle or something. I know the difference rarely transfers to film so maybe there are differences that we can't see. Still, it looks great. :bigups

Now that my kids live at their mom's I go out at night more. I got tired of drunken calls at 3AM from jerks who saw the number on the back of my car. I'm going to get a small A-frame sign to use when I am working in parking lots.

It was hard with the 740, because the 3rd pic was taken in late August on a slightly hazy day so the sun is filtered a bit more. To me, Klasse AIO/SG looks very reflective and shiny and VM/CMW looks deeper and wetter. I'm going to add a layer of SG next time I wash the 740 to see how that affects the look.
 
DOOOOOOODE Scott, how do you get those 740 rims clean, they are the biggest PITA EVER. Could you please tell me what you use (cleaning solution) and if you use a cotton towell, mit or what to get into each of those friggin spokes. Also, did you AIO/SG the rims? Thanks

I just use my normal QEW solution, an assortment of brushes and terry cloth towels. I wash this car every week, so the brake dust doesn't have time to really build up.



There should be a special place in he!! for the person who designed those wheels and one for the person who approved their use. :angry

Stunning work as always and awhile back you asked me how I liked the UPP and glad to see you feel the same now:)



I have been taking tons of BEFORE shots of my work but with this time change now by the time I am done it's dark!! Argh!



You have though inspred me to get some pics up soon.

Anthony-I know what you mean by trying to get pics before it gets dark. Stupid winter! Oh well, in about 2 weeks, we will slowly be getting more daylight.



I like the look of UPP, but not the wait until you can buff off the excess. Any tips on that? I also noticed a lot of dust on my car, but it could just be because we had 20 mph south winds yesterday and 20-35 northwest winds today stirring stuff up. I was going to add another layer of UPP today when I got home (around 4:30), but the temps were in the upper 30s with high winds still.
 
I have removed the haze/wetness of the #2 layer of SG a la Bill North (wipe on, wipe off, a panel at a time) using clean, but washed MF towels and this morning under the harsh parking garage lights lots of barely visible scratches were visible. My MF have been washed with hot wash/hot rinse using Woolite liquid, with only other MF's and WWMF drying towels, BUT in hard Houston water.



Has anyone seen any evidence that SG is "soft" until after the 24 hour cure time?



What about micro-marring induced by MF towels?



Is there any kind of water softener that can be added to the wash so minerals in the water are reduced or eliminated from the MF towels?



Let me also add that my MF's are soft, but don't seem to be as soft as when they were virgins. Yipes, I might go broke if I have to buy virgins all the time!

I’ve rarely experienced SG as ‘soft’ but low air temperatures and / or humidity may effect the cure time



I have found that Microfiber towels (or at least the ones I used, and they ‘passed’ the CD ‘test’) did leave micro scratches, so I brought some DFâ„¢ Towels Alpine Microfiberâ„¢ (100% cotton micro fibre) problem solved



I use Galgon in the towel/pad wash water, helps my hard-water problems some but it would depend upon what problems you’re having with your area’s water. There are some hose fitted water filters (I think if you do a search I posted something on it some time ago, if not e-mail me )
