its been a while now and frankly im sick of it. im going to get some video evidence of it and i would like some advice on the following:

- give evidence to police for prosecution

- make a copy and post it to the person house with a kind "note" asking for it to stop

- make large print outs of the offender and poster on the main road where i live

i know this sounds very strange but im at my whits end here. any feedback would be much appreciated.

If it were my neighbors I would start with the kids' parents. Show them the video as proof that you are not making it up. Most times this will stop it. If you start with the police without giving the parents a chance to correct it, there may be resentment from them and other neighbors as well.

I agree. Although it's not cool, they are kids and it would be best to deal with it through the parents first. If they show no interest in controlling it and it doesn't stop, then get the authorities involved. By all means, don't get into a confrontation with the kids or the parents. That can lead to bad things from both sides. Good luck and hope all works out.

thanks for the advice people, i understand that evidence is the best bet and that is what i will be aiming for tomorrow night. these kids parents are hardly ever at home so trying to get them is next to zero. i think that once i get on camera who that person is, i will approach them and tell them to stop and failing that the police will be involved.

as stated, violence is something i truly resent but if needs be it may come to that. i thought that these types of neighbours only existed on TV.

Dude you need a big Irish Wolfhound! I don't know what the laws are like aross the pond on video tape evidence, but a camera does sound like a good solution. Atleast you will not have to fead a beast of a dog. I should know as I have 2!

Good point!

My parent's German Shepard scares the living crrap out of anyone who approaches their house. Even though she isn't trained to attack, perps don't know that :D.

If you know who is doing it call the police now, they will likely go talk to the parents/kids involved. If that doesn't stop it, get the video and turn it over to the police. Of course you realize in that case you will be the complaintant (rather than the cop if the cops caught them) and will have to testify in court that you took the video, etc.

yeah that i understand thanks mate, i will get him on camera several times to show its ONLY him doing it and not anyone else. most likely i will approach him and let him know hes been caught so it should give him the message that i can turn him in at anytime.

another thing i was hoping to do was catch him in the middle of it and shout "youre on camera so stop it now" while videoing just so he gets the message better. i feel like if i approached him he would think i was talking nonsense. anyways i will give it some more thought but thanks for the replies.

get the vids and then approach the parents. don't even bother wasting your time with the kids...they obviously could care less or they wouldn't be attacking your home. another good reason not to approach the kids is that all they have to do is lie and say you threatened them or something...and then you are in a world of hurt with the authorities.

if the parents do nothing and/or give you attitude, then take it straight to the police. messing w/ someone's home is absolutely unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

How old are these "kids". Are they just brats? Has anything happened to instigate this? What things are they throwing? Sorry, just being nosey.

Last year, I went all out for Christmas (my son is 2 so I decorated the piss out of my house on the outside) only to come home from work and find about 4 teenagers vandalising my stuff. It quickly came to fisticuffs, and no amount anything is going to help you when its four on one. Anyways, I hit the first kid AFTER he swung at me, then was quickly wrestled to the ground where I got my arm around the neck of one of them and proceeded to choke him the **** out, while getting punted in the ribs from the other two.

I kind of rolled to my back and held the choked out kid on top of me as a shield but only recieved to punts to the side of the head. Thats all I really remember clearly because of the kicks must had hit my temple. Anyways, my neighbor heard the racket and came out and the kids took off. He said all 3 of the 4 where standing around me, kicking me and calling me a ***** and a *****, ect... I called the cops to file a report and was completely honest with them. They wanted me to go to the hopistal because they thought I probaby had a concussion, and my face was pretty rough.

Anyways, the next day, an angry parent shows up at my house with his kid and we get into it (verably). The kid had a broken jaw, so it must had been the mouthy one that I hit. Anyways, the four teens concoted this BS story about how I was driving down the street and throw somethign at one of them. ***? They all made up this story and stuck to it, so now the dad was threating to call the cops, sue me for medical bills ect.... That was the end of it, pretty much.

If there's someway you could place a big sign where the vandals could see it and communicate to them with strong impacting words that "Due to recent Property Damage incidents" this house is now under 24 HOUR SURVEILLANCE and that POLICE have been notified to make ARRESTS for VANDALISM and PROPERTY DAMAGE. Violators will be ARRESTED and PROSECUTED. (Use all the good legal buzzwords) The kids probably think its all fun and games right now. Once they realize you're serious and they could get arrested they might have a change of tune about it.

I wouldn't let them know too much about your video surveillance as they might try to damage your video equipment.

Gotta stay one-step ahead of the crooks.

thanks again peeple, and i must stress that i have done absolutely nothing to set these people off. i moved into the area last year and it just started, but for whatever reason is only known to them. maybe they think its funny to be chased by us. i already have a CCTV outside of my home so they deliberately move to the other side where they cant be seen to commit this annoying crime. i will be installing another one next week to get ALL angles of these people.

its true about not benig too obviouse with the videoing of them so, i shall scrap the idea of shouting at them and just get whatever i can on tape. with that i will either try to find out where he lives as it only seems to be one person and talk it out with his parents. failing that i will have no other choice but to call the authorities and do everything i can to have that person charged. i am sick of having to hide around my own home. oh and sorry to hear about your ordeal with those 4 kids, the law is seriousley screwed up and it turns honest workers like us into nasty people.

Live in Georgia - we pack heat! The laws here have changed recently and now a citizen has the right to protection from the bad guys/gals. Or just plug’em and drag their bodies into the garage and call the cops. :o :o

We had a problem with a new neighbor in our development recently. Evidently they have a college age son and he was having friends over at their house for what sounded like a rather large party. Well it was probably 10PM and the next day is trash day so I go out to the garage to take the garbage out. Well from the bushes in our yard I hear a loud scream like someone just go attacked by Jason and then I hear running and laughing. Needless to say the laughing stopped about a half hour later when the cops busted up the party and talked to the kids parents. I kind of worred if there would be some form of retaliation from the kid or his friends for a while but luckily we haven't had a bit of trouble from them since.

thanks for the support people :D well tonight may see a result in terms of me catching the A-hole. since my car is away being fixed he thinks i am not home as my mum saw him looking into our property twice today. so once nightfall hits, i shall be up in the front room cameras ready. bring on the action and lets catch some lowlives in action lol.
