keeping cats away from your car, for real

bill57- That's (somewhat) different, and there are things like bore-cleaning-pellets that one can use for stuff like that (with decreased accuracy to be sure). Things like that can even have their place in protection-dog training.

Yeah, it *is* an effective teaching tool..ever trained with simuntion? As the saying goes "quae nocent, docent".

i'm thinking about detailing my car while i still live in the garage where the cats are, and it got me thinking: do you think a slick wax on the car is a good idea with cats? seems like an unwaxed car is a better idea since the cat won't slip easily and therefore scratch the paint easily. what do you guys think?

tuffluck- My guess (and I think that's all anybody can do...guess) is that their claws are gonna do some damage no matter what, and that if the car's slick enough that they slide off they'll be less likely to jump on that particular car again. As noted by bill57, they learn fast.

thanks for that. the downside is that if they put scratches on the car, some can be buffed out. and i'd rather just buff after there are scratches rather than before and then after again. what do you think?

i haven't quite figured out the trick around my apartment complex. i think it's possible they only got on my car 2 nights in over a year, but they did some extensive damage during those 2 nights. so, i guess i just can't ever be certain with this new vehicle.
