Just wondering..

For those cars that have a super hard clear coat and really dont need paint correction. But you go to detail it and want it to really shine or pop.. would you still polish with a light one step polish just to give it that extra gloss/wet look. Or do you just skip the polisher 100% and just apply a wax or sealant.

BTW anyone work on a 09 Ford focus.. Paint is so good!! I CANT make a swirl in that paint even if I tried!!!

imo if it aint broke--don't fix it.....

though i'm sure you can maybe try to burnish it or something...esp if it's super hard clear i think i'll just stick to what needs to be done... lol esp if it's a dark color'd car

I new this would be a mixed opinion thing. I was just wondering why some people do and dont. Does the one step polish make the paint that much better even though it doesnt need any correction.

IMO yes it does

I am perectionist so i always strive for 100% so for me polishing is a must

it is not about correction it is about leveling CC and preparing the paint for the LSP

Oh right thanks! I was just wondering cause I have an 09 Focus which the paint is as hard as a rock. I have washed that car with the Worst Washing habits in the past before I knew the good ones and there is not one swirl or anything in that paint! So I was just wondering even though paint is in good condition if I should should just do a one step finishing polish on it such as Megs M205 before a good sealant or wax for the winter..

I understand what you mean.

On brand new Audis and VW Passat CCs, the paint has the same characteristics as you described.

Even with woolpad and compound, there are no swirls.

For me, if there's no deep scratches and paintwork is great, I'll just use Menz PO85 with a DA, and then proceed to LSP.

On such a paintwork, even Megs 83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish + yellow polishing pad + rotary can surely give you a NOTICEABLE improvement in the clarity of gloss that might surprise you.
