Just when you thought you heard it all !

That's just rediculous. I suffer from road rage on a daily basis. It's not a chemical imbalance in my body. It's the morons that I have to drive around every day. On second thought, maybe I should go see my doctor. :lmfao

Yes it is caused by a chemical imbalance, a lack of beer:D

Great.... Another way for people to escape taking responsibilty for their actions. "I'm sick, your honor. I can't be held responsible for how I terrorized that lady and her children on the highway."

I'm already taking medication for my intermitent explosive disorder. I only need to take it after a trip to Taco Bell, if you know what I'm sayin. :naughty

Forget about the dommy who cut you off. It's a medical issue. Maybe they suffer from lack of oxygen to the brain.

I use to have road rage. March 9th 2005 a vehicle starting coming into my lane. I honked. The driver of the vehicle decided to start yelling at me. being the way I was back then, I engaged in a shouting match. Little did I know he was with 2 other vehicles. They attempted to get me to rear end them several times. I made a U-turn realizing it wasn't going to be good. The original vehicle turned around and followed me. He got in front and tried to get me to rear end him again. I turned into a Blockbuster parking lot. He did so as well as I was getting out to go inside and call the police. He jumped out and ran at me. He grabbed me with one hand and pulled back his other like he was going to hit me. I had a collapsible baton in my pocket which I pulled out, extended and struck him on the side. He pulled a small hand gun out of his pocket and tried to shoot me. I can only assume the gun jammed as he looked as shocked as I did that it didn't fire. I guess he knew he was screwed so he yelled he was a cop. I told him BS that a cop wouldn't jump out of a car and not show me a badge. He told me he didn't have his badge. He then ran back at his car. I wasn't sure if he had another weapon, so I jumped in my car and took off. I got home, but there was really nothing I could do as I wasn't even sure of the make (some Korean car) and definitely not sure of the model, much less a license plate.

Turns out that the drunk guy was an off-duty cop. 3 hours later while I was in bed, 11 police officers came and surrounded me house. Of course the officer's story was different than mine. I was arrested for Reckless driving, Peace disturbance, Failure to obey an officer, Unlawful use of a deadly weapon (Felony), and 2nd degree assault on a police officer (Felony). My total bail was $21,000.

2.5 months later, after testifying in front of the grand jury, signing a waiver saving I wouldn't sue the PD, lots of money, and lots of head ache, everything was dropped. I still get harassed by officers once they run my record and see what I've been arrested for.

Almost getting shot in the head and then not knowing if I would end up in prison at the age of 17-18 was more than enough to make me avoid road rage in the future. I hope everyone else does the same. You never know what the other person has or who they are. It's not worth your life.

You make a very strong point Maxima Lover. I never try to let it escalate at all, but sometimes I can't help it. Most of the time if it's gets that far I'm just yelling to vent in my car.

And people wonder why I hate cops.

I use to want to be a police officer, but after that situation and the ones I've had with LEO since, I've really turned away from it. Of course the officer lied about the whole night and how things went down. He claimed I charged him and that he ID himself immediately. Unfortunately there were no cameras at Blockbuster aimed in the direction of the incident. The Grand Jury decided this case didn't even have probable cause after the officer and I both testified. The fact that they believed a 17yo over a 40yo police veteran should let you know that the officers story was less than credible.

My story wasn't told to hate on cops though. It could have easily been a non police officer with a gun. It was told so people know how quickly it can escalate into something much more than a shouting match.

Not to get to far off track here but MaximaLover's story reminded me of an incident I had when I was 18. It was a traffic incident where I ended up with my word against a police officers word in court. I really was on the up and up this time around. The judge listened to both of us and suspended the matter until he could go down and take a look at the physical location first hand. He said we would be notified and to be prepared reappear once notified. I never heard another word on the matter and nothing ever showed up on my record. I did a lot of stupid things and got more than my share of tickets, when I was wrong I just sucked it up and paid the fine. I wasn't wrong in this instance and I think the judge knew it. This was his way of throwing it out without embarrassing the officer. Don't get me wrong here. I really do like police officers and I didn't have a problem with them then. I have two very good friends that wear the shield.
