just starting out: supply list

I'm soon to order my supplies for hopefully this upcoming weekend. I want to make sure I get what I need. To start, I followed much of the guidance found in "The Perfect Shine", but would like to get more feedback and personal preferences. I've stared some of the items, those that I'm not 100% on. My car is a dark blue BMW 330Ci. Garage kept at night, no cover (yet), generally kept garaged or in the shade during the day.

I want to get the best products I can. It's senseless to spend hours trying to perfect my car when, for instance, my MFs are leaving fine scratches on my paints, etc. etc. So, am I missing something? What would you swap out? And what about where to purchase from? Thanks!

Where are your current MFs from ? If they're leaving scratches on your paint, why not swap them out ?....I use PakShak's MFs and DFTowels for my final removals/QDs. There are other vendors out there that make high quality MFs as well.

I was just using that as an example. My towels are reasonable, but they're old and I'm looking to get new ones. pakshak has been mentioned in other threads. Is that the place to purchase from? Also, I admittedly need to read up more on the various types, but what is recommended as far as different types of towels I'll need. Thanks.

IMHO, you wouldn't need both the Sonus paintwork cleanser and AIO. If you're going to go with Souveran, then you'd want the Carnauba spritz.

The easy grip applicators are awesome. I find them locally at AutoZone.

I only use mitts on my paint. The brushes are strictly for wheels and tires.. maybe small ones for under the hood.

There's a thread down in the product forum about hose nozzles right now: http://autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52624

Unless you wheels are not clearcoated (most factory wheels are), you probably won't need the metal molish. You can just apply AIO and a nice sealant to the wheels to protect them. If you don't let them get super dirty, you can just use your normal car wash soap to clean them. In other words, care for them like paint.

You'll want a couple waffle weave towels for drying.. in case you drop one, it's nice to have a spare so you aren't rubbing the dirt from the ground on your paint. Some cheaper towels for dirty work like in the interior, door jambs, engine, etc -- towels from Sam's Club work great for those purposes. Then a bunch for use on the paint for removing polishes and waxes.. There's lots of different vendors that sell them, and it's fun to try whichever ones interest you :)
