My interest is old vehicals, a retirement hobby, so I will not be in the perfectionist class. I thoroughly appreciate what the truly talented can do to automobiles but I'm just not of that mold.

I am restoring a '52 Dodge pickup truck into a daily driver. I want to protect the old patina so if any of you have experience accordingly, please respond. I want the old hard rusted fenders to be protected and all the colors, dark blue, light blue, bondo gray(s), red, etc. I hope that is NOT offensive to some but that's how it is.

I'm 73 so I guess the old is impressive to me . Attached are before / after pictures of my progress.

I love older pickups! My 1952 Chevy pickup, well it wasn't actually mine but I got to use it, drive it, and maintain it and actually was quite fond of it...

It was a Flathead 6, and 3 speed column manual shift. The starter button was on the floor and it just didn't get much simpler than that.....
 
I'm just fixing/refreshening it for a daily driver. I'm only using original parts except for disc brakes up front and a wrangler rear axle so I can run on the interstates and stop. I have sound proofed the cab but will keep the exterior as cleaned. I'm about to hit the street, when I do I will post a short restoration history.
 
Here is some of what I've done. Like I said, its all functional. I put about five (5) rattle can coats of clear on the engine, etc to help with wash down. I like the old brown/rust color, not flashy but maybe a bit nostalgic.
