Just got bumper replaced - paint bump

I just got my bumper replaced and there is a small bump (noticable feel and can easily see). The service tech told me to bring back the car on Monday and they would polish it out for me.

I'm sure they will need something strong to level that bump. Should I just leave it as is and let my pro detailer deal with it when he details my car next month ?

I would be very leary of "polishing out" a bump. Chances are if there is enough film build to raise it up where you can feel a difference, I doubt polishing alone will fix it. It may require total refinishing.

If this bumper is plastic, they need to be very careful polishing it. Paint is typically thinner on these parts, and they heat up much quicker. Point being, with a rotary you can burn through the paint on my modern bumpers very easily.

Metal panels conduct heat, hence they will sink away a fair amount before it gets hot enough to burn paint.

Plastic is an insulator and doesnt transmit heat readily. .... hence its 20 times easier to burn the paint.
