Just got a Body Kit put on, how long should I wait to clean/wax?

Hello, got a body kit painted for my Jetta and put on, picked it up on Monday. The guys there told me to wait to Wax for about a week. I have some S100 Enhansing Paint Cleanser and S100 wax I really want to put on there. Just wanting to make sure that I should wait out the week, wait longer, or what:)

Listen to the painter. Only they know what paint and acclerator they used so they know how long it should take to cure. None of us painted the kit so we can't tell you.

If they say a week, I'd stick with that.

I'd say play it safe and wait a month.

There were recently numerous threads about this topic. A search will return many hits.

even after my searching I am still kind of confused. So if I am understanding right No Wax for at least 6weeks or so. But people say IHG is safe, so can I use the S100 Paint Cleanser? (mild polish). Also I am pretty sure my pieces were "baked", I actully had them paint them twice because the first time the color match was pretty far off, so they blended it the second time and tinted etc.... But he did they that they did "bake" it, and he used the term "bake" and "throw it in the oven" quite a few times. And if that is the case it should be ready to go now.

Again, I see no reason to continue second-guessing the painter. If you are confused, call him and ask.

I wouldn't use a cleaner on potentially soft paint no matter how mild it is. A glaze is just makeup; it's just for looks. The kit should look awesome so why apply a glaze?

Patience, my son. Patience......

Put the kit away and don't touch it. Go out and clean the garage or something, anything to occupy yourself for a few weeks.

:), well the only reason I am just so anxoius is that the kit is on the car, I had to have them install it because it needed to have some cutting done on the car itself. But yeh I hear what your saying. Paitence is a virtue:)

understand that what they "baked" and "threw in the oven" is not OEM quality paint, which does not cure as fast. Also their "oven" isn't nearly as hot as the ones they use at the factory when your car is built and painted. So you can't make the assumption that its "ready to go."

Just as Bret said, patience is virtuous. About the time you do something RIGHT NOW to the car instead of waiting like the paint shop said, you risk spending extra time, money, hassle, and etc. on the car. Plus you'll feel bad that you didnt wait. Save yourself from that and just be patient.

I was told by the body shop that installed the body kit on my show car that I should wait at least 7 weeks before applying any wax. My kit is made by Stillen and is all urethane.

I don't really see the need for a paint cleanser if the parts were just painted. You might be able to get away with some 3M IHG and QDing.

To be on the safe side I would wait.....
