Just getting started.

I'm just getting started in the business and just leased a great location for a good price. I'm having trouble with the pricing, the other detailers charge about $70. I haven't heard good things about the quality of there work. I plan on putting alot of pride into what leaves my shop. I'm scared to start with a higher price, but I know it will be worth their money.

Basically I just need help with some marketing, I've been trying to read all I can. Any help would be great, Thanks.

I wouldn't be scared, alot of the larger carwashes that say they detail cars around here say 70 for a detail, which they mean wash and wax, not a detail. I have buddies that work at these places, and they don't buff cars, just wash and wax 70 bucks. Be sure to explain what you get for your price.

Plus other side attractions always help.

Ya know, it doesnt hurt, (other than your pocket book, but temporarily) to do a clients car for free. Im not talking about a full miracle detail, but try to offer your service to someone who has a fairly new car, or one in decent shape. You need to get the word out, and word of mouth is the most profitable. Imagine if you did a corporate guys car, say a Porsche, Jag, Benz, etc....You know he has friends that drive nice cars. If he refers one friend to you, was it worth it ? Now you have 2 owners who are happy with your work. Things multiply from here on in.....Just a thought....

Thanks for the help, I do have a surgeon at the local hospital in line. I'm hoping word will spread fast. Thanks for the replies.
