Just bought showcar w/ perfect paint. bumps appearin under the paint a few days later

I had a '64 C10 restored in '87,and the paint did the same thing. The bumps appeared almost overnight after several years of the truck being painted. To be honest,I can't remember the exact explanation I got,but it was something to do with the primer. I do remember that the body shop used Acme primer with Dupont paint. I think I remember someone saying they should've used self-etching primer?

I was pretty frustrated because I took really good care of the truck too. It has done nothing but get worse over the years. The truck needs to be restored again anyway, but it's still aggravating to see those bumps.

That is very scarey. I kept telling myself theres no wy this happened overnight but your story kind of backs up what I've seen.

One day it's fine, next day it horrible. I've had that more than once, but on my motorcycle. First was the chrome wheels I spent $1200/each for. Bike was outside, but under a cover (mostly) I came out after it had rained a bit and there was a line where the cover ended about 4 inches off the ground. That's the exact line where the chrome was peeling on the wheels.

Another time, when I got a better clam-shell cover. I came out one day and there were bubbles all around the gas tank flange. No problems for about a year since it had been painted, then suddenly bubbled paint. Painter told me to pop the bubbles with a needle and let the gasses out, then next time it was winter we would have to reseal and repaint around the gas flanges.
