Just another abused Ford. Just had to detail it!

Had a chance to use my new Vector rotary buffer from CMA on an older Ford pickup. It had extensive marring and spider webs along with some deep scratches and chips from years at the parking lot at the mall. The surface of the paint was very rough with little or no care in recent years. The owners idea of a detail is to go to the local swirl mart every other week. She visits my wife often. I just could not take it any more seeing all those swirls and scratches. So I offered to detail her truck and she hesitantly accepted. Here are the results, process, pictures and a few comments.



Wash

Blackfire clay and Adamâ€â„¢s detail spray as lubricant.

Poorboyâ€â„¢s spray and wipe to clean up clay residue with Adamâ€â„¢s mf towel to buff off.

Rotary with LC white pad using Menzerna Power Gloss. Cleaned residue with MF towel and fifty /fifty Iso and water.

PC 7424 with LC white pad using PB SSR1. Buffed with MF towel.

Applied PB EX with carnuba with MF applicator pad. Buffed with MF towel. Used Adamâ€â„¢s QD and MF towel to clean up any extra residue. It also added to the shine.



Please do not make any comments about the wheels. I had nothing in my arsenal that would even touch those wheels. I did wash them and applied Klasse AIO to all the wheels. I also used Never Dull to one wheel. But that was a hopeless situation.



The vector rotary was the star of this show. I made a lot of newbie mistake but in the end the power of the rotary took over. The Menzeerna Power Gloss was a good product but felt that it had a lot of dusting. Propbably applied to much product.



The PB product were excellent as well. All of them were easy on and easy off.

to be honest... i never asked. i did look at the vin number thru the dash. so if i were to guess it would be a 97 Ford.

I think its a late 90's. My stepfather that had a 98 which is the same still front. But he didn't have the flare side box.

It's at least a 98. The 97 had bronze factory privacy glass in the back. This one has smoke privacy glass. I would guess it's a 2001 or 2002.

Excellent transformation! Amazing what the right tools and products can do, even on something that neglected.



That truck is so much blacker now that the scuffs, swirls and waterspots were polished off. :up

the wife was so impressed with the Zaino shine she is working on her fears of parking in the garage. so far so good.



i personally think that the rotary made the shine. i would not have had enough time using just the PC 7424. the Vector was a little unwieldly. it was a mattter of concentration. if idid not pay close attention it would get away from me. unlike the PC 7424 which is very forgiving.

having seen your results from numerous previous posts i use your pictures, comments, and process to be my judge of what is a good detail.



i invested seven hours into this detail. i marvel at you and all the professionals that are on this site, as to your ability to do more than one vehicle in a day. i know as a heavy equipment operator i could never do this as an occupation. it has to be an enjoyable experience....which this was!
