Jump starter boxes

I was thinking of getting one of these. There are many units available. With out spending a lot does anyone have experience with one ? Thanks

I have the NOCO GB40 for our cars and have not had an issue with it. Walmart shows them on sale at $80 online.

I got a SOLVTIN "S6 Multifunctional Jump Starter, 1200A Peak" off of Amazon, for $49.99. It worked on my dad's V-6 Toyota Sienna, but did need to use the 'boost' to get that running. I used it on our 4 cylinder Accord about 10 times while we were having battery issues, and the battery level indicator hardly went down.

I still carry a great pair of really thick wire jumper cables, and never have had an issue helping Other people get started...All my vehicles have their own Battery Tender running 24/7 when garaged, so I never have dead battery issues., until around the 7th-8th year of the battery, and then most batteries are going to start losing a cell, and now it's going to act up until you change it out... Good luck....

I also have the NOCO. Bought it after riding in a tow truck and seeing that's what they used. Have subsequently given them as gifts to my adult sons. Have used mine oftener to start a riding mower than a car, but it's worked for me every time I've used it.

I keep a NOCO in my Road Glide saddlebag and it's come in handy several times ( ironically not for the Road Glide yet). It holds a charge for months on end and with the carrying case it's easy to lug around. Highly recommended.

I went with the GOOLOO GT 4000. I havea NOCO charger but in my research the GOOLOO tested better anr had longer cables at a lower price at the time I purchased it.

I went with that Noco GB40 on the Black Friday sale, seemed like a prudent thing to have around. I use CTEK chargers...I just realized how ironic that is.

I can't see them making sense for the average person. How often do you need it, chances are it's going to be dead when you need it unless you keep it charged regularly which seems silly. Jumper cables last decades.

I picked up a Avopow jumper box with inflator on black Friday. It might be good to top off the tires now and then. I hope to remember to check it's charge once a month. I heard they last much longer.

Yeah but...(I'm trying to defend myself here), I used to think these were silly, too. But a couple of my friends got devices like these, I got to thinking about it, then this thread came along, and a battery in one of my cars started to scare me...I generally don't change a battery until the car won't start, and I always do it myself. Plus most of these things will do many starts (I think the Noco says 20), and they are lithium so they should hold a charge for a long time. And finally...jumper cables...you need to find someone to help you, with one of these things, you just hook it up and go, no worries about clearance to the jumping vehicle, etc.

I charge my GB40 every 18 weeks, which is when I've found it has often gone down to 3 out of 4 bars on the battery. Still plenty of juice left. I'm being conservative. I'm sure you could go much longer. Jumper cables are more awkward to use and require another vehicle. and you can have a fire if you don't use them correctly, which does happen.

I use the Microsoft To-do app on my phone for reminders/tasks. Pretty easy to set up recurring tasks on whatever interval you want.
Wow, thanks for letting me in on that (the app), sounds pretty useful, although I imagine the (Android) OS has something that does that, also. I mean probably the calendar has something along those lines...if I bothered to actually look into it.

Yeah, you can create a recurring task in Android in the calendar app or the tasks app. I just like MS To-Do better as it's a more developed program.
