jiffy lube = thieves! *video proof*

I have two facilities in my community that I would trust my vehicles with.

As far as the ripoffs go...

On a trip for a vaction at our timeshare in Virginia, we stopped for fuel at a rest stop on the New Jersey turnpike. The attendant (you can't pump your own fuel in "joisey") told me to open the hood, as he "had to check my oil, as it was a state law". Seeing that I had just had the oil changed, I said "no, I won't.. and I want proof it's a state law". He insisted on me opening the hood.

There was a NJ state trooper there at the rest area, so my wife walked over and asked him about "the law"...

The trooper came over and had a very interesting discussion with the attendant and the manager....

I'm sorry, I'll apologize for NJ! It's funny, not that I have gotten gas on the Turnpike a ton of times, but I certainly have done it...I guess they know not to pull that on people with NJ plates.

That is why I stay when I have my oil changed and I make sure I see them pour those bottles of Royal Purple into my car.

Woa, that's what I called "Cold busted"

Man, I owned 6 cars in my life time. I dont ever recalled taking my car to any service station to do a simple oil change. I do all the service by myself.....except state inspecton :(

I'm sure the quality of service one receives varies from location to location especially in a chain like Jiffy Lube. Some people are honest and some people aren't. Honest employees in a situation like this would either make some noise or just leave the job, integrity is everything. In this case it appears that some of these locations may have been located in the same district (I'm guessing here just by the locations that are mentioned). That said, I believe that problems like this trickle down. It appears that the District Manager isn't "taking care of business" or the customer. He outright lied in front of the camera of all places where he's bound to get caught. This is one clue that you aren't dealing with the sharpest pencil in the pack. He should be fired at the very least and every employee in the link that could be implicated in dishonest practices. I have no doubt that from time to time a service is over looked especially when there are many services on a ticket. There is no good excuse for it but when a problem is discovered you bend over backwords to make it right. In this video that certainly wasn't the case. It seems apparent to me that there was some training on how and where to cheat and I believe a lot of it may have started at the District Manager (maybe higher) level. He just looked sleazy to me.

This is why I shudder when I have to take any of my cars anywhere to be serviced. I don't trust mechanics or garages. So many scumbags.
