The paint has serious (non-correctable) defects to worry about perfection (Jet Black & DD = bad combination ;) ) I also didn't want to spend the time (or the customer the money) to go for a full multi-step polish. So compounded and finish polished the hood, roof, deck lid & above the beauty lines and only polished out the less showy parts. Still the UltraFibre pads did an excellent job.

WOW Mike, those are some amazing before and after photos!! The finished reflection photos are simply amazing...:bigups

Nice work Mike and a great selection of products!! :bigups

Looks Great Mike !!!

Any reason you choose UPGP and not WG DGLS? So far in my testing I think WG DGLS has a little more of that nuba glow. Which I personally think looks great on dark vehicles.

Thanks Troy.

I chose UPGP for several reasons:
Wanted best longevity. I know 3 coats will last a goodly long time and I am reasonably sure the car will not be carefully maintained. I'm sure WG & BF last a some time but I know UPGP does.
I wanted to confirm my observations about the ease of application of WG DGLS & BF WDCS. UPGP is easy but the new guys are even easier.
I have a ton of UPGP.

You correct about the looks.

Very nice. You did two steps and the interior in 8 hrs. I am slow but Meg's do have shorter working times than Menzerna (at least for me).

Thanks Al.

I like SMAT polishes for that reason. I decide when I'm done - not when the polish goes clear. Megs 105 cut is awesome, finishes very nice with MF pads and, mixed 2 dots M105 + 1 dot D300, the bad characteristics (dusting, short work time & difficult wipe off) are pretty much eliminated while keeping those good ones.

Being a BMW freak, and knowing their jet black paint..........

Great job. ! !

Don't look at it too long or it will swirl.

Nice. That would have taken me 5 days.
Is JB BMW paint really any different to work with? My BMW is black sapphire metallic & I don't have any problems removing defects or finishing perfect. Did you notice any difference?

Thanks everybody.

Yes, Jet Black is the exception in the BMW line. It is (generally) very soft, mars easily and shows all defects. Because it mars so easily, you often have to compound to remove defects and then can need multiple polish steps to get it to finish right. I was rather fortunate here.

Most of the other BMW paints are comparatively quite hard.
