Jeez....It's a Ford!

this car came from Michigan I think and it went the whole way here, to San Antonio, in an open bed truck apparently.

How come I'm not suprised. Those folks in Detroit aren't very smart about shipping their merchandise.

On that note I should also mention that I do detail work for an office building that is going down to Dearborn for a conference this week... and are taking a tour of the facility building the GT while they're down there. Of course, I was not invited :sadpace:

And I agree about taking a Porsche over the other stuff; but only if I get to have a Carrera GT :woohoo:

gotta love camilo's re-vamp of the classic GT design...its funny to think I hung out with him at his Halloween party...and the fact the guy seen below actually designed the thing... I laugh every time I see him...Great work!

taken at his party...he’s a astronaut if your couldn’t tell...

porsches are overrated, who cares about making corners unless u go autocrossing or something but this is america. the gt runs mid 11s, better than any porsche or ferrari in its price range.

The Ford GT is nice but the Porsche can be an everyday driver. The Ford has some bad visibility and again I can gripe enough bout them darn doors!!

if you guys ever get a chance to sit down in one, the seats really hug you in but notice how the door also is part of the roof. Well that roof part is right over your where your head should normally be when exiting a car....yet you can't stand right up until you fully open the door cause if you do...WHAM!! :shocked Right on the top of your noggin :bawling:

Dude, it was funny in the JDM wax thread, but now it's getting annoying. You seriously need to broaden your world-view and appreciate a wider variety of cars (that are NOT made in the USA).

Actually, would you yell if I said I like the Chrysler 300C? 'Cause.... gosh. It's awfuly close in relation to a Mercedes Benz, and the company is German-held. :grinno:

Now back to the topic at hand, I'm more or less talking from an aesthetics standpoint. As nice as the Ford GT is, I can't help but think it doesn't look the part of a "supercar"

Anthony,

How durable do you think the anodization on some of these aluminum surfaces are, like the chassis bracing in the engine area, or some of the paneling (not necessarily structural) on some exotic cars?

I understand anodized aluminum wheels are fairly durable, but even then, the manufacturers do not recommend anything other than regular shampoo.

Anyway, the reason I ask is that I tried lower quality polishes like NevrDull on a hidden portion of anodized aluminum and it seemed to discolor it slightly. Maybe the protection is now gone?

Looking at marine shops, they seem to recommend applying a protectant to aluminum if the anodization is inadvertantly removed.

hey Justin,

Great questions....if i know something is anodized I'll use the Showmans Blend polish as it has very light cleaning properties but more of a protectant for metals. I'll always treat anodized parts with kid gloves.

Anodizing aluminum is rather durable because as I understand it the anodizing is actually part of the aluminum itself. I do though stay away from abrasive cleaners as much as possible when working with it. A nice cleaner/wax is good to use, like VM or perhaps something like AIO.

Thanks,

Anthony

I love the GT's but man you can for sure tell it is a Ford by the HUGE body line gaps.

Those aren't body line gaps. Those are aerodynamic air dam reflection gizmos that add an additional 10 HP. :LOLOL

BTW - Nice job on the car...

Awesome car and the top quality work goes without saying. I think that car is sooooooo sexy and would have a very tough descision between the GT a 997TT or a (used) 360. The car compares preformance wise to the Enzo and Mercielago (SP?), its a "bargain" compared to the class it competes in.

Why is it that it is so wrong for someone on these boards to be pro-American cars? So what if a guy only is interested in loooks or 1/4 mile times over handling numbers? That is *his* measure of performance, yours may be different hence the wide range of product on the market. It seems to be OK to question the quality of American cars (OK for good reason in many cases), but should someone say the same about European or Asian cars they are accused of bashing? Since buying my M3 my views on cars have changed quite a bit and I can see the difference in fit, finish and feel over most American products but you are talking cars at 1.5x - 3x the price!

Good question Chuck. Unfortunately there aren't very many true car guys anymore that can recognize a great machine no matter what badge it has on it. To a lot of people a car is just a status symbol and they need to feel good about their choice by putting others choices down. Same attitude we see here about wax.

For the record I was not bashing Ford or American cars in anyway.

Uhhh whats this

One thing you will notice if you look at the pics. The only "HUGE" body line gap is around the rear deck lid and the doors. These cars are hand built and you can bet there is a reason for the dimension of those gaps other than lack of quality which is what you are suggesting.
