I did this jag today .. looked good from 5 feet but up close there was a lot of scratching where someone wiped the snow/dirt off the hood and same withthe trunk and the top of the rear bumper ..

I did the following

1) wash/clay

2) DACP / yellow pad on all the horizontal surfaces

3) Menzerna IP and a white pad to follow the DACp to remove the DACP haze.

4)#82 / white pad

5) FMJ .. Was a learning curve.

Great job! what type of learning curve with FMJ?

I have another pix I will post .. soon as Photodump un dumps.. I don't know why its a tad off focus like that .. its a cheapier 2.0 and auto focuses .. unless its cuz I had it set on single point focus and it didn't bounce off the shiney car right .. dunno .. I never was good with a camera.. Thats why I detail and not run a XXX site .. hahahhaa

Learning curve was more a RTFM issue .. The FMJ came in the mail as I was polishing so I stopped for a break and opened it. Gave the enclosed manual a read and sniffed the wax ( thats important you know ) and went back and finished polishing.

Once done I started applying the FM to the roof .. it was a b*tch to put on and seems like dried on the applicator. It was hot out .. low 90's .. I was in the garage .. shaded. I tried a diff applicator .. same thing .. nearly gave up .. then back to the manual .. says use a MF applicator .. ( I used foam and second was a terry covered foam one ) soon as I switched to MF all was fine. Once the applicator was saturated enough it went on smooth and I could do 3 panels then wipe off..

Might have been able to do more panels before wiping off but didn't have time to piddle around. Gloss / wetness on black to me was 1/2 way between SG and Zaino and wetter than both and a lot less finikie to apply/remove. Duration .. who knows. I will have this car back regularly so I will be able to track it.

My sis showed up later yesterday with her 03 copper Mirano ( orange pumpkin) I gave it a wash and did the front fenders/ hood with it .. FMJ really made the metallics pop and the gloss / wetness was very evident in the late day sun.

At the price of this stuff up here I don't know if it will be a regular product for any but the top end repeat customers.

BTW cudoes to www.carcaresmart.com .. I ordered the FMJ on the 14th at 7:15 am online .. it arrived on the 16th at 11 am.. not bad concidering I am 400+ miles away .. They must have had it at the post office early the same day .. also got a freebie mf applicator and a Viper MF towel.

I also got my FMJ from CarCareSmart. I used the (dry) mf sponge they sent to apply it and had no problems whatsoever. Maybe you put it on too thick? I hardly used any FMJ at all for the whole car. I used it very, very, very sparingly and it seemed to be fine. It's expensive but I'll be able to do my car a ton of times with it.

CarCareSmart.com and eShine.ca both ship ASAP. It's Canada Post that is the wild card. I've had some stuff arrive in 3 days and other stuff arriving in 7 days. Both sites' customer service are fantastic.

No it was the applicator .. once I switched to the MF one it was just fine .. and the *DO* stress dry .. no pre spritzing of water or QD ..

Your right ,.. CanaDUH post IS the wild card.
