Yeah, I'm sure some of y'all are getting sick of me posting pictures, but I just can't help myself. ;)



Here is a Jeep that I did an exterior detail. Good old Maaco paint that was only 2 years old. Obviously, no clear coat. I did not have a whole lot of options since this detail is a 'company prize' for a recruiting firm. They give away 2 exterior details to their top recruiters each month, but they limit the amount they will pay. Basically, it is enough to do a 2 step job on the paint. I decided to try a little Poorboy's Polish w/Carnauba since it is claimed that it will remove oxidation. I went over the hood (which was really the only part of the Jeep with noticable oxidation) using PwC and a terry cloth towel, then again with PwC and a foam hand pad. I think the before and after speak for themselves.

Of course, I did a few black cars this week. On both of them, I used Poorboy's Polish w/Carnauba and Clearkote's Carnauba Moose. So far, it seems to be a pretty good combination.

And onto this week's beast, a 1999 Excursion with about 130,000 miles on it. He has me wash it weekly, but only gets it waxed every 3 months, so I felt this one would be a good test of the durability of the Poorboy's Polish w/Carnauba and EX Sealant.

What's your tire dressing these days? Armor All? I'm thinking about getting some of that for exterior components. Water-based stuff seems not to last long, and the solvent based stuff I've tried seems pretty gummy and won't ever dry. It'll probably be good for tires too...

CRXSi90-That's right, Armor All. Cheap to buy and since the reformulation, great results. I used Armor All on all those vehicles, and in the shots of the Jeep, you can see my car and at that point (this past Tuesday), it had been more than 2 weeks since I had dressed my own tires. AA is also great for fenderwells.
 
I must say that I think the S-Class is much more classy than the 7 Series. Different strokes for different folks.



Scott, do you ever get to drive the Lambo? Or any of these cars? I don't mean drive car, short 10 minute drive maybe?
 
Corey-I've moved around the blue Lambo, but I did get to drive his purple one (not a 6.0 VT) and it pulls like mad! The clutch is real stiff though. I've also driven one of his S600s. One of the tires had a slow leak and he paid me $40 to drive it up to Discount Tire and have them fix it. That big V12 has a ton of torque. I got on it at about 40 and figured I'd let off at 70 mph and by the time I saw an indicated 70 and backed out of the throttle, the car was doing almost 80! What was really impressive was the total lack of drama and noise. Just a solid push and you were well above the speed limit. Also got to drive a CL500, but it just didn't feel as quick as I thought 302 hp would feel. I am sure the chrome 19" AMGs didn't help. Driven a few C5 Vettes too.

I hate those tires too. I really, really hate those tires. :mad:



I use those Eagle One tire swipes to apply AA to the tires, but I have to spray it into the sidewall tread then run the tire swipes down into the tread to get complete coverage.



pwalk-I used AA in the interiors too. I used to use Meguiars #40, but it is a bit more expensive than AA, the look is practically the same, and despite what probably everyone else thinks, I really dislike the scent of #40.
 
Scott have you tried the Eagle One tire swipes for SUVs? I've got the same size for my Acura and the large size for my wife's Pathfinder. The SUV size help out with the larger tires.
 
PAW-no, just the regular ones. Switching back and forth would drive me nuts when most of my customers have SUVs and cars.
 
You missed the exhaust tips on the G35 :shocked j/k, I'm sure you got them before you left.

Seems like you have a nice combo on the blacks. I like the look a lot. Have you completely done away with S100 Paste Wax?



The Armor All seems to be working well for you. I think I will have to pick some up for customers.

GSRstilez-I still use S100 on light metallics and single stage paint jobs. I don't think it can be beat by any other carnauba based products on those types of paint.



Yes, I did get the exhaust tips on the G35 before I left. It was about 5 PM when I took the pictures and overcast so with darkness quickly approaching, I had to get the shots.
