It's 40 degrees out, time to break the law. (NXT pics)

I thought I would repost this. My other post was lost.

It's illegal to wash your car here in Germany due to environmental reasons but no one can see me from the road. :D

I'm not exactly sure. I guess they just don't want detailing chemicals to pollute the ground or something.

So no washing AT ALL? As in every single other car on the road is dirty? Could you get pulled over for having too clean of a car? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but im really curious. How good do you feel having the only shinny car on the road?

same problem here about washing the car...you have to have a legit car washing business to be able to wash by hand...ah the scratches i have to endure....T T

There are car washes and detail shops here but they have to contain and recycle the water. I've never read any official regulations or anything. I was just briefed about it several times when I got here. If nothing else, I'm in the Air Force so I can always just wash my car on base where most German laws don't apply.

We have the same issue where if you want to wash your car, you cant use a hose, but you have to keep filling up a bucket all the time, unless you go to a coin-op where they recycle water.

It is due to a water shortage we have in Australia ( extended droughts and dams that are poorly positioned and too small ) nice work by the government there....

*Lucky me with a wash bay in the underground carpark at my unit complex so I can use a hose if Im quick and get away with it*

A couple of years ago Maryland had a drought that prevented people to wash their own cars at home. In most cases the neighbors called the police and you either got a warning (if the cop was nice) or a $500 fine.

My dad's friends house is huge and completely isolated from the houses around, so all our cars/trucks got detailed there:D

The law can kiss my a$$ when it comes to telling people when and where to wash their own car:down

Up here in the great white north, the same rules. Wash your car in the driveway (with run-off going into storm sewer) and you are breaking a least a couple of bylaws and maybe some provincial environmental laws. Protection of the fresh water systems (lakes, rivers and streams) outweighs a clean car:eek:

Watch out for recycled water at coin op washes - might contain more salt than the ocean!

Outstanding work Greyfixer!!,

The more I see NXT pics, the more I really want to get my hands on some of that stuff. Gotta love black!!:D 91

Awe I'm gonna have to send you some QEW and make your life easier.

You really did a good job on it. :) If you washed it and it looked bad then I would say to report yourself to the authorities, but since it looks nice you'll be ok. :)

Greyfixer,

Your car looks great !! Did the NXT hide the swairl marks??

Actually, the car has very few swirls. I bought it brand new back in 2000 and it's never been through an automatic car wash. I used to use Meguiars 3-step program (by hand  ) to keep it maintained. The few swirls that I do have were hidden very well by the NXT. Once it gets warm out I'll give it the full treatment. I have a few bird-dropping paint etchings (that only an Autopian would notice) that I have to remove.
