It all started at 9:30am on Wednesday

So I started detailing an Accord at 9:30am this morning. The last time when I detailed a car which was also my first time it took well over 25 hours, but it was all by hand plus breaks here and there. Well see how this one goes since I have a spanking new PC.



(9:00am - 11:00am) Washed and clayed the car, so far so good. But I can imagine the next step will take a lot longer because I haven't used a PC before.







Question, how do I polish the smaller pieces of the car like the grill (would it splatter everywhere if all of the pad isn't touching the car surface)? Also can I use the DAS blue pad (light cutting pad, the least aggressive of the DAS pads) to apply my wax? Or should I just use the MF bonnet or just use my hand?

Just because you have a PC, you don't have to use it on every inch of the car. So, for the places that it doesn't work well (e.g., the grill, on or around the mirrors, certain parts of the rear around the license plate, etc.) just use a hand applicator or use your hand with a bonnet -- I do this after I'm done.



Yes. Use the least aggressive pad for wax. A light abrasive pad sounds a bit too abrasive. A finishing pad is what I use with my PC to apply wax.
 
I just spent 30 mins with the PC on half of a door. Question, there are some scratches I can't remove and i am afraid I am removing too much clear coat. I started with the green polish pad (DAS) and optimum then I stepped up to orange (med cut) pad. There are still a few scratches I can't get out. They started out as a white line now it looks like an indentation (black/clear line). Is this the most I can do?



When the PC is running, I am not sure I have enough product on the car/pad. It's always just a almost clear film of polish on the paint and it's very thin. Is that enough?
