Isopropyl Alcohol etched my clear coat?

Hello all. I got a few spots of tree sap on my car lately. The car was pretty dirty so I didn't want to mess around with it until I washed the car first. Unfortunately, I didn't get to it until the sap had baked on in the hot LA sun and heat. I found a thread here describing to use soaked cotton balls with alcohol and letting it sit on the spots for 15 minutes. So that's what I did. The spots dissolved, but it appears both the sap AND the alcohol have left imprints or etching in the clear coat similar to bird dropping imprints. I tried claying, ScratchX and AIO with no avail. The spots are gone I think, I went over them with a plastic bag and didn't feel anything. What can I do? My hood is pristine otherwise.

I'd be very surprised if was the IA. I use a mix of water and IA routinely between polishing steps, I've even read write ups on how to properly use it to inspect for defects. Everything Ive ever read and experienced tells me its fine for paint.
