Is this machine the future of paint polishing?

God I hope not. Looks entirely too clumsy... could you even get remotely close to a side-view mirror... or even a bumper cover...? Maybe if you're polishing hoods and trunks all day....

Saw this live at SEMA- nice idea with no circular motion. Our thought was the same...large areas. The pads are quite thick so as long as you do not drop the unit, it does more around nicely. On aircraft, tour buses, boats, etc. it would speed the process and produce very good results. I don't see the auto detailers jumping to it and price will perhaps come down a bit to get some to try it out.

One of my local competitor uses something like this...I believe it is called an Astro drum polisher. I think the one he uses is pneumatic and has a longer handle.

I finally got to watch the videos - Net Nanny at work blocks Youtube, and finally got the laptop at home. I'd say it's got it's place, but I'm not ready to buy!

So, its bee a few years since this topic has come up and I am wondering where this machine falls today? Is it worth it for detailing cars or not?
Curious to see how many if any of yall are using this still or is it just for the Truck and RV details and alike?

What is the name of the polisher? The Youtube videos does not work. Or you maybe have a picture of it?

If I remember correctly it’s a horizontal cylindrical polisher. Slim chance a YouTube video posted 9 years ago is still going to be at the same address. Look up BuffPro polisher

Given that DA polishers did not die out over the last 9 years I think it’s safe to say it was not the future of polishing.

Having Detailed an Airplane, I am not sure this would be a good fit there either.. It might not like all those rivets its hitting and then perhaps it may get out of control or something..
Imagine holding that big heavy thing for 10+ hours a day, 7 days a week...
Imagine how much it costs to change the media on it and how much that costs..
If it has a lot of torque, better be wearing a couple of -Guns- already, or plan on getting them from the work.. :)
