Is this Heresy ? All products look the same.

I don't think you can honestly tell. I mean if you were looking at 10 different cars could you really tell which ones had Souveran and which ones had Meguiar's or something? This thread is the whole reason I would never buy a product like Souveran. It's like buying Hilfiger jeans or something, all about the name.

Not that designer clothing is worth the price much of the time, but you can tell the difference from cheaper brands. Especially in the style and cut. Buy on sale.

Back on topic...

Maybe you the difference is more subtle between similar products, but using two different combos, the look is very different for me. Especially on black.

For example, if I do a Meguiar's detail like #9, #7, then topped with one of their carnauba products, the look is quite different than when I do Menzerna PO85RD topped with Zaino Z2P.

However, the difference between Z2P and FMJ is more sublte, but noticeable.

Finally, the slickness and durability of products vary dramatically.

If neither you, nor anybody whose opinion you value, can tell the difference, then no, there's no reason to buy something like Souveran. But people who do notice the difference should just buy whatever looks best to them.

FWIW, my wife *still* compares everything I use on the Audis to Souveran. That just happens to give the "look" she likes, and she can clearly describe all the subtle differences between the various LSPs I use. Again, she's not into detailing, or even cars really, but she has an "artist's eye", with great visual differentiation skills. And she and I have both been looking at the same Audi silver for a long, long time. It's like my Jag, I can see things that nobody else will because I've been looking at the same paint for 20 years. On that car, trying P21s in place of the usual Souveran was a dramatic change; the paint looked completely different to me. Could I spot the difference on, say, a red car? Almost certainly not.

But I *have* asked people "is that Zaino?" and I haven't been wrong yet ;)
