i wanted to try wetsanding my foglights and DRL's and was wondering if this was a good product for wetsanding. also, can i wetsand plastic the same process as all the paint tutorials? and should a yellow pad with ssr2.5 be enough to take them back out?

I would use 2500 or 3000 grit to sand on plastic; 2000 can be a bit harsh. The SSR2.5 should be sufficient for polishing, though.

I'd recommend picking up some Meguiar's Unigrit paper though; from what I've experienced it's vastly superior in terms of the tracers being easier to remove.

Same here. Unless 3M has changed their 2K grit. That's what I used to wetsand with before I tried the Unigrit stuff.

But as psl car wash said, watch that you don't cut too deep. I myself wouldn't do it at all.

how far down are the uv coatings? i just read .5 mils somewhere.. no idea how deep that is..

i just wanna get all the surface crap off them so they look better with my new xenon bulbs

Do you have any pictures of their present condition? And/or where in MI are you located? On a 2000 Firebird (assuming that's what you are working on) they probably aren't too bad... may not even need sanding. Depending on where you're at, I may be willing/able to help you out with them, also.

I had some success removing some pretty nasty marks on a 2003 Bonneville, without even sanding. The owner had scraped against another vehicle while pulling into a parking space. All I ended up using was Meg's #83 (DACP) and a W8006 polishing pad with my PC; took the marks right out.
