Is There Really A Difference In Clay Bars?

Unless something changes with the "polyclay" formula in the very near future, you're not likely to continue to see it. A recent court hearing found components of the "polyclay" patent infringed and the judge halted the sale of the product. As a result, all of the clay being manufactured now comes from the same factory in Japan. There are many variations in the formula, but all are based on the same plastic clay technology.

David,

What kind of clay is the Sonus gray clay? I just purchased my first bar of this recently, haven't had a chance to use it yet. Do you expect supplies of this to halt due to the court case you reference?

Thanks,

The Sonus clay is the "plastic" clay technology. I selected the formula based on safety first, effectiveness second. The clay is a little softer than I personally like, but the 10 person "novice test" I conducted named it the right choice for most users. This formula will not change, but I am looking for a "PRO" clay that offers faster cleaning.

The (mild) Sonus works great for gentle "spot claying" without disturbing the LSP :xyxthumbs
