I've been on this board for about a month and found a lot of useful info about Zaino...i didn't know what to expect since I'm very skeptical....
I received my shipment of Zaino via the MDX group purchase this week. Yesterday I was able to put it on two coats of Z5/ZFX on two cars...
First off...
Car1: Honda Accord, black..I had previously used Maguire's Show Car Glaze on the car during a really cold afternoon. By early evening, the consistency was like putting elmer's paste on the car...well i decided since I can't do anything about it, i'll let it sit overnite...and take it off the next day when it warms up...bad idea. The stuff litterally bonded to the car..in splotches. *($#%....Well this weekend I Iwashed with dawn as prescribed...then went at it with Mother's clay. It did the job, but it took over an hour. I mixed one ounce of Z5 and 4 drops of ZFX. I used a MF towel and worked it in. It's a lot warmer this weekend, and the stuff dried quickly...I would have to Z6 or moisten with water quite a bit. Overall I used .75 ounces...I have no clue how ppl can do two or three coats in one ounce....
I waited a bit, and started back at the front of the car...and the stuff came off realy quick. My first impression was how slick the car felt. This car had a lot of spiderwebs afterwards, but significantly less. I used Z6 and it got even better..I still saw the disgusting splotches, so I thought...well I gotta take this off...so I went at it with the clay bar....this is hard work..but I got more off.....another 90min of claying before I was satisfied.
Then it was back to the dawn, Z5/ZFX and Z6. I had to add another ounce to the bottle, but I used considerably less..prolly about .5 ounces. I was really happy with what I saw and felt...the black was almost like a mirror.
Car2: 996Coupe, silver. This is a new 2002 car, with 500 mi on the odometer. I've had it for about one month. Previously, I was only wiping down the car with Maguire's Quik Detailer after I would drive the car. I did the same deal since I had .75 ounces left of Z5/ZFX. Washed with dawn...then left the car outside as I saw the 4th quarter of the Superbowl. Came back to the car which was all moist. I drove it into my garage and wiped it down with a MF. I was able to do two coats with the remaining .75 ounces...(is it me or does it seemm to use less and less to coat a car?) i had used Z6 inbetween.
My impression after the first coat was that I could see the inconsistency of my application. The car was not super slick but "flat" until i put on the Z6. The Z6 evened out the finish more..This car was new, and garaged. After the second coat, It got better...it has an inherent slipperyness to the car finish now...and it almost feels like plastic. Not paint. I'm very happy with the Z5, and i'll wash with Z7 and do Z2 next weekend.
