I have a 2006 Honda Accord w/ coated leather seating. I got a sample of Optimum Protectant Plus and was wondering if there is any benefit to using it on my leather seats.
As far as I know (which is not very far), you would use the protectant on leather for the same reasons as you would on the interior plastic and rubber: prevent cracking and fading plus UV barrier. For coated leather, the consensus is that you don't really need leather conditioner, just protectant like the OPP you have.
Now the question is: is leather conditioner necessary for coated leather? And survey says...it wouldn't hurt. Some of it might actually seep past the coating to reach the leather.
PS, I also have an Accord with leather. I am using Meguiars Leather Cleaner/Conditioner right now, but I am looking to get something like Sonus Leather Conditioner because it is supposed to actually have a leather scent. I'm just weird like that. I also like new car smell even if it's toxic!!!
contrary to popular opinion coated leather can benefit from conditioning. Both Zaino and Duragloss leather products can do some moderate softening of coated leather seats.
