Is there a need for AIO after polishing and before SG?

Just finished removing a scary amount of oxidized paint from a single stage red 1986 Porsche. Used 1Z UPP followed by PP. Surface looks really good. Is there any real need to use AIO before SG and then wax? I am concerned with all the color that keeps coming off on my pads, and don't want to push my luck. I realize that AIO is non-abrasive, but what added benefit is there at this point? Thankfully this is not my daily driver, since this has been taking me a long time so far.
 
"Need" is maybe too strong a word, but I always precede KSG with KAIO. It will clean up any residue from your polishing steps and prepare a proper base for KSG to bond to. Personally, I think it also tends to add a little gloss/brightness to the paint.



I'm sure there are those who use KSG without the KAIO first, just my 2 cents.

So if this is the case, can I simply apply AIO over the 3 panels that I just applied glaze to (if it matters, it was 3M Imperial hand glaze) and do the whole car w/AIO and then the glaze? I guess what I am asking is if the AIO will remove the IHG?

KAIO will remove the IHG. But KSG won't bond to the IHG so that's an incompatible combination anyway.
 
Thanks. My plan was KAIO, followed by 3MIHG, followed by S100. Is that plan flawed? Should I go from KAIO directly to S100?, or from 3MIHG to S100 and skip the KAIO? As you can tell, complete newbie here, 1st detail. Thanks for your patience.
 
You started by saying you were going to use KSG... and that was the purpose of your post... so what is your question now?
 
Sorry for the confusion. My process, thus far has been 1Z UPP, 1Z PP, and I was planning on KAIO followed by 3M IHG, topped by S100.

So right now my question is.... to just finish the car with the 3M IHG, topped with S100, OR to redo the 3 panels I had begun with the IHG, going over them with KAIO, and following with 3M IHG, then S100?
