Is the newest Griots 6in weaker then last Ver?

I was told by a Griots rep that its the exact same machine, but a few things have been changed cosmetically to make it more comfortable to use.
 
The newer machine is quieter in my experience, which may lead to the impression that it is less powerful. Also keep in mind that with random-orbital da'
s which require a loose bearing for maximum rotation, a new machine may have to "break in" a little bit for best results. If your older Griot's was well broken in, it may have steadily increased in polishing power over time.

When you switch to the new machine, the new bearing (responsible for the pad's rotation, may need a few hours to wear in and reduce drag. This is a common situation on all rotating machines. This is why car engines, with their multiple bearing surfaces, will often product significantly more power as the miles increase, until wear from other items negates and begins to take power away.

Interesting. I never knew you would get more power with "breaking in" a random orbital.
 
Maybe you got a defect? These tools do have various moving parts and an electric motor isn't always perfect. Try someone else's an see.
 
Isn't a Griots GG6 v2 & v3 "stronger" than a Rupes? I'm talking amps and watts. Basically, the ability to press down on the machine and stop the pad from spinning, which I would guess would be the torque of the motor.

I know the Rupes can likely "out polish" a Griots, due to its large throw, but just on grunt, I would think the GG6 has more.
