There is no doubt you can use any pre-cleaner or not use any at all before applying your wax. My point is simply, you spend around $200+ on a wax and go through all the work in preparing your car to obviously try an optain the best look possible, invest the extra and get the product that the manufacture has developed to work with, has proven the results with, and endorses.
Think of it like painting a car, you can purchase the paint from manufacture A, the primer from B and the clear coat from C, is it going to work? Probably, are the results going to be optimum? Unlikey. In the end if the products are not fully compatable then you have wasted a lot of time preparing and a whole heck of a lot in removing and preparing all over again.
IMO just not worth it after you have invested that much in a high quality wax.
