Is SG outdated?

Agentf, I'm sure there are plenty of people that would take that pain in the *ss off your hands and let you use something a little simpler for your skill level. Nothing beats SG overall IMO. I find SG, topped with OCW and a fine carnauba have an unbeateable exquisite look.

My skill level is well above low level and find SG finiky and streaks a lot on black also .. Easy on reds and lighter colors because you don't easily see the streaks and hazing .. Its the nature of the beast not totally the skill level...



I use it a lot on anything but black .. And if I have to start using water mists and QD to apply / remove it .. I feel I am altering the chemistry and don't do it.
 
I think Zaino offers as much durability as one could possibly want from a sealant, and it looks just as good, if not better, than SG, and is not as hard to work with.



I was, however, blown away with how the K-Twins looked on my last black car, but that was probably because it was the first time I did a real polish job (1ZPP) before the twins.



I can't wait to try Z2Pro to compare with SG. I am a weekend warrior, so my main concern is looks, not durability, which is why I tend to stray away from SG often times.
 
For you guys complaining about the difficulties applying SG, what method are you using? Have you tried Bill North's wipe-on wipe-off method?

Skill comes in properly using a rotary and wetsanding, NOT applying a sealant. There are only little tricks here and there to aid in application and removal of a product, and the answer to SG is to apply it as thin as possible while still actually putting product on the paint. I am well experienced in using SG (it was the only LSP I used for a couple of years) and have started using other products not only because they're less finicky, they provide a nicer look in my opinion. SG is a quality product with excellent durability but is not for everyone.

As Klasse SG is made to work with AIO, why wouldn't you use it? If you want another resin-based product, why not try Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection?

I was planning on using SG until I read some of the comments here. Those comments, combined with my little detailing experience, have caused me to question whether SG is the best choice for me and my dark colored car.
 
BigO... It's not necessary to use a multi-step system. If your paint is nicely clayed and polished, using Klasse AIO by itself will make your paint look great and protect it just fine. You really don't need a multi-step system until you become mentally unstable, distrurbed or a freak of nature!

Oh, it's was too late for that... After reading this forum for the winter, I'm about as "touched" as anyone on this board. I can't wait for the nice weather so I can get out there try everything that I've learned.



Now if I can only get my wife to understand :D
 
I'm a virgin newbie to this site and I just don't have a clue as to what all the 2 and 3 letter abbreviations stand for. Without causing any extra effort on you folks, is there a location where I can get the definition of said abbreviations? Otherwise, it's like watching a foreign film without sub-titles.

the next thing to learn after becoming an Autopian, and probably the hardest skill to master in the art of detiling is how to rehabilitate and get rid of the detailing bug or how to unbecome an Autopian!!!
