Is SG outdated?

I personally believe SG to be the BEST VALUE of any wax/sealant. You could put 3 layers of SG on your car every 6-8 months for many years with just one bottle. I have never had any problem with application or removal and consider the Klasse twins to be less work than most products considering that they only need to be applied twice a year at most.



On a light colored car they are hard to beat. It is perfect for my wife's white CRV since her's is garaged at home and at work SGx2 easily will last a full 12 months, looks great, and is easy to keep clean. That way I can spend all my time waxing my car every two weeks and QD it every couple of days without getting the "...you never keep my car looking good" whining from my better half.
 
SG is old, but holds it's own with the younger whipper snappers like Zaino, Wolfgang, UPP, etc. I don't use it on my car. I primarily use it on my family's beige '92 benz and it always leaves a really nice pearl finish when I'm done. :cool:

I still have SG in my aresnal... it's not used everytime, but for those that need durability as the utmost impotantance.
 
i got caught up in the other sealents, but i recently used it on a RX300, and i still love SG. i am going to start using it more often again. the look on light colors is outstanding IMO.

I've not tried every sealant., of course. But KSG is the bomb.

Hands down, it is the best combination of protection, gloss,and value.



Topping it with a sweet carnauba... well, sure, that helps!



If I thought there was something better, I'd be using it...

Mercedes-Benz dealerships used the Car-Lack sealant, while Jaguar and various other English carmakers(Aston-Martin, Rolls Royce and Bentley) favoured Autoglym products

have a Neighbor that is not really a detail nut like me but he asks a few questions now and then.



Last summer I gave him bottle of Megs final detail to try on his car that he just ran through the car wash. Then this fall I gave him a 2 ounce sample of SG that was just left over from a detail and I didn't want to put it back in the Klasse bottle. He rang my bell really wild eyed saying this new stuff is amazing. When I told him SG was out around the time I was born he didn't believe me.



Its old and sometimes finesse is needed to use it properly but it works. Its still the benchmark to me in durability and protection.
 
I've got AIO/SGx2 on my car right now and it's great. (My winter sealant of choice)



The shine is great but it is sterile. Not DEEP or WET like a carnauba but when compared to other cars on the road Klasse is top notch.



To me Klasse is the STANDARD by which these other newer brands strive for. They used Klasse as a base and asked themselves, "What is it about this product that I we can improve?"



Let's make it easier to remove. Let's improve the look. Let's make it more durable. It is all in comparson to the FATHER of modern sealant protection- and that's Klasse...



Yes there are products that wipe off easier. Yes some of them look better. And durability? You would be hard pressed to find one that out performs the twins.



Longevity in business is a result of a quality product, so when you purchase Klasse, that's what you get. Outdated? Nah. Just a seasoned vet...
 
Actually, Klasse SG is an old but ffect paint protectant. Old in terms of its technology, which it is just a variant of the same products we used on our floors back in the 60's to make them shine but adopted to meet the automotive needs and environment - Acrylics.



Modern technology is striving for the protection durability equal to or better and improved appearance characteristics via another backbone structure - amino-resins and crosslinking.
 
I still use AIO & SG on the wheels of both our Bimmers. It keeps them looking brand new and also makes them very easy to clean. I usually apply a new layer of SG every 1 to 3 weeks depending on how much each car is driven.



I don't think any other sealant, (except Zaino), could keep up with the BMW brake dust like AIO & SG.

SG outdated, don't know but it's the strongest sealant there is

It's a super strong monomer/acrylic that works wonders on not just paint but glass, exterior trim, rubber seals and although sometimes being unforgiving if you put too much on, will not be stripped off every time you clay your car

I use a combo of 4 x SG with 2 x UPP, 2 x wolfgang DGPS and a coat every month or p21s carnuaba paste wax

The polymers might get stripped off when claying is required but I know that the klasse is still there and giving optimum protection



Just clayed my car this weekend for a ford car show where 400 cars attended

Used UPP over the SG

It was so easy to apply and remove (gave it a good couple hours) and a great shine and slickness but as soon as I get fallout on my car again which so far is not very often thankfully, it will be stripped off again

If you put many layers of just a polymer or super polymer and no basecoats of klasse, your back to naked paint again if you clay within the 3-4 months lifetime of these sealants



24 hours let SG sit on the paint then remove and wait another 24 before a second layer is the only way for me.



Klasse SSG (super sealant glaze), a 21st century update would be nice and the option of the standard application method or a new spray on method like zaino z8 would be nice
 
I might give all these new sealants a go to achieve a certain look, but if I need a sealant that will last and look good - for me its a no brainer to reach for Klasse everytime.



And AIO: glaze / light polish / chemical paint cleaner - call it what you will, its the most versatile product in my detailing kit bag and IMO in a class of its own.



My old man always told me: If it aint broke, dont fix it. I hope that Klasse leave well enough alone.
 
I just recently tried AIO/SG after hearing so much about it on here and found it (SG) to be VERY finicky and a pain in the butt to remove and very streaky on black. I think Z2 Pro blows it away. 4* UPP was a little better but still no Zaino.
