Is Pinnacle Souveran worth the $70 admission?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have it and LOVE it! I can tell a difference between it and everything else including P21S that I have used. I got it for 50 bucks on sale which I feel its justified. It will last a LONG time, as Scott said 50+ applications if used right. The only thing that I care care for is the short durability maybe 4 weeks tops on my outside daily driver. But then again the purpose of Souveran IMO is a beauty wax not a marathon runner.
 
My .02: I havent used anything that looks as good or is as easy to use. I bought it on sale, and it's great stuff......$70 is kinda steep for wax though. I dont know if it's worth it for a daily driver. I use it on my SS now that I drive it only a few times a month.



Honestly, the reason I bought it was that I was planning on having my SS painted, but since then other things have taken priority over the car. :(
 
I bought this to give it a go on my Red Dodge 2500 Laramie and I have played with a lot of different products lately. Pinnacle. Meguires carnuba liquid, Ziano, Tropicare, Mothers Syn wax, Reflections, Collonite, Groitts



I put all of them on different sections of my hood and watched for a few weeks. As said before you can feel the surface is not quite a slick as with reflections or Collonite or even Zanio. It feels thicker, more buttery. Dont know if that is good or not. Beeding was nowhere near as good as Collonite or reflections or Zaino.



The smell and experience is perhaps worth the $70 even if the results are not what you expect. To me Tropicare and Meguires carnubas are close in shine and beeding but fall way behind in packaging, smell and pure enjoyment of use

I think Souveran is worth it if you want a carnauba and have a silver, black, red, or dark blue car. Still for $70 you can get a similar look with good prep and the Zaino system.



Souveran remains my favorite carnauba wax.

....that last week after week, month after month. This is especially true when combo'd with Z8. :woot2:



Z2PRO + ZFX + Z8 + shipping = $65
 
For carnaubas, I dont think there's a wax that sits at the same level as Souveran just yet, at least on reds and blacks (unless you get into the absurd with Zymol Estate Glazes, which I've only seen once at an RL car exhibit). There are though, a handful out there that come close IMO, and can be had for far less, Trade Secret and P21S come to mind.



As mentioned before, Autogeek has their yearly sale on Souveran which will save you considerably...and at those prices I think it's well worth it! But for dark paint in general, I tend to reach for Trade Secret, since I have more of it :chuckle:
 
S100 and NXT paste don't satisfy as much as Souveran on black. They're all great but Souveran is still the king on black cars.
 
I bought my Souveran in the summer of 2002 I still have enough left for this summer. The easy application and removal,smell and look on my car are well worth the price(I think it was $50 US thats about $80 CAN at the time).

I enjoy washing my car and I enjoy applying Souveran so the durability is not much of an issue for me, and spending $80 for 5 summers (no winter waxing for me) of wax doesn't bother me.

In terms of carnuaba usage and personal taste.

Used both Souveran and Zaino on many colors including my previous black Lexus and Z28.

I enjoyed the Z appearance better. Most importantly, my wife likes Zaino better on her vehicle. Great!!! I don't have to spend a lot of time keeping her vehicle looking great. Wash, Dry, Z8 and done!!!!! :xyxthumbs



PS. I just spritz my Crystal Mist in the garage when I desire that Souveran aroma. :getdown
 
I've also used both a lot, and I don't prefer the look of Zaino, not even close. Everyone has a different opinion. Why must you push a product in a topic based around something else?

For example : UPP, P21S, Zymol, TropiCare, NXT, etc, etc.



Most have also stated why they choose what they choose and that opinions are based on "personal" preference.



Where's the problem?



Let's face it, the only way anyone can form their own opinion of a product is to test it themselves. At some point one gets to the prep level where any product will look great and other aspects become important. Most importantly time. Do I wax my car frequently because I want to or do I wax it because I must?

From my point of view, Souveran is pure magic on my black sand pearl paint. It produces a deep, rich glow unlike any other carnauba wax. As a carnauba junkie, I find myself taking the "realist" approach when it comes to carnauba waxes. I simply don't expect any carnauba to perform at it's peak past 4 weeks. That's fine with me. I use quality carnaubas to achieve the look I desire. Using a "multi layered combo" approach provides me the protection & looks that meet my needs. (polish when needed, sealant topped with carnauba) As for the price of Souveran........Yeah, it's expensive. No doubt. However, one jar of Souveran yields anywhere from 40- 50 applications so it's easy for me to rationalize the price point. It's kinda like steak! Sure, a good Sirloin, Rib Eye or T-Bone should do the trick & are quite tastey! But Fillet Mignon......come on now.........It's Fillet Mignon!!! It puts a major dent in your wallet but the quality & taste are superior to the others. Souveran Paste Wax is the Fillet Mignon of carnauba waxes!

It's that every topic you post in your pimp Zaino. Always. The other posts were a one-time comparison then left alone, you keep repeating yourself, over and over again.



You're completely entitled to your opinion and that's fine. We know what you like. Save it for the topics devoted to Zaino, let the others continue on their own without your relentless praise.

In the winter it can be a real PITA to wash an Escalade outdoors every day or even every other week to ward against paint damage and appearance declination from salt, snow and just the grime that tried to attach itself to the paint. The Torch Red C5 does not see this type of weather but sealants, in my case Zaino, has achieved the appearance qualities of carnuaba mixes so I use this product on this garage queen also. I try to stick to one line of products and perfect their usage. I see no reason why I should differentiate between the vehicles.



Can one love both? Yes, and multiple product lines for their subtle appearance differences. I even top my Zaino once in a while for the warm and fuzzy carnauba experience with Crystal Mist and now FK #425 between washes and Zaino application. :hifive:

I have seen this before making Zanio is cheaper than Souveran. I use both products, Souveran on my show cars since I like the looks and Zanio on by daily drivers because I like the durability, I have owned Z2Pro and ZFX now for 20 months and the initial cost was Z2Pro = 14.95 – ZFX = 19.95 shipping = 8.95 for a total of $43.85. The cost of my last Souverian was 50.00 on sale but normally it is $69.99 but where I shop all always seems to get free shipping. Now a can of Souveran applied monthly will get me between 3 and 4 years out of the 69.95. Zanio using ¼ oz means I should get 32 applications out of each bottle. Last weekend I purchased a new daily driver so I pulled out the Zanio and found the ZFX has turned to rubber and it was over 18 months old and had expired and had to order another ZFX which cost me 19.95 plus 8.95 shipping. Add that to my original purchase $43.85 + ZFX = 19.95 and shipping 8.95 we are at 72.75. Since I have only used third of the bottle (this stuff is great durability) there could be another ZFX in future and that would bring the total to 101.65. Cost between Souveran at least in my case is a wash!! :nixweiss
