IPA wipe after Iron-X needed?

long story short, its white paint GMC 2008. if you use iron-x on the entire vehicle, do you still need to do an IPA wipe down prior to applying a coating. this time we are using DP Paint Coating. do you think the Iron-x has it clean enough to apply, if we are not doing any polishing, simply wash, iron-x, and coat. IPA wipe, or not necessary? never tried it before but this client refused to get it polished in between, so was thinking this would be a situation where you might be able to get away with it. don't have time to wait for responses so I'm going to go ahead and IPA wipe, just curious.
 
Iron-x really smells and leaves a scent behind. I always follow up with another rinse, wash, rinse, dry.

To ensure any coating would bond properly, my preference is to use IPA or CarPro Eraser on the surface before applying.
 
eraser leaves stuff behind.... (or so we were told) it's ok for cq, but does not play well with dp coating or pbl. (again as we were told) (different formulations)

use the dp coating prep
 
this customer refused to get the truck polished, even though it needed it badly. he only wanted wash and coat. he was going to take it to Ziebart and get the diamond coating, and I was going to let him, but its been raining every day for over a week around here so we have had several cancelations and simply needed to get some kind of vehicle in the shop to work on. the paint was covered in the typical rust colored specks that you see on white paint, iron x removed them and left the paint literally squeaky clean, so that's when I thought maybe the coating could be applied right after, without having to do an IPA wipe. seemed like it was about as clean as it could be at that point. not something we would have done on this truck anyway, since we had plenty of time to work on it. was just wondering for future situations when we don't have as much time.
 
At a minimum, I would clay between IronX and a coating. You really should polish too if you are going to put a product that could last up to 2 years on the paint. That being said, usually what I do is IronX after my decon wash, then rinse with a power washer. Then I clay using lube and nanoskin mitt and power wash each panel after I "clay" it. This gives me a nice clean shiny surface after I power rinse after using the nanoskin.
