It depends, I use to do the interior first becaue it just makes sense. You wouldn't be using electricity in water, no dust from the shopvac would be blown onto the car, no chance for dust to settle on the car before polishing, etc.
Lately, I have been doing the outside first because it gives the moldings and crevices a chance to dry out before polishing and waxing. I wash, dry, then blow out with a blower, but still get runs from time to time. I find that giving it an extra 45 minutes to an hour to dry while I do the interior helps out. I do add a step by doing a quick QD before I begin polishing/waxing.
I guess I have been taking my chances with the water and electricity. :bigscream

After wash and dry, I blow the car off with a leaf blower to get all the water out that I can. Then I do the inside of the car up to the windows. If the car carpets are wet I start the car and run the floor heater on high for 20 minutes or so, with a window cracked if its cold outside.
I then work the out side of the car, I do this in case you have overspray from cleaning the inside. It makes sence to me to do the inside first then seal up that owrk and start the outside, with no chance of getting dust or anything eles on the inside!

makes sense to me......... guess it just depends how you want to and works best for the ind.

Some like to get the painful part done first I try to put it off as long as possible... Exteriors first.
Actually in the begginning that was my mentality because I HATED interiors. Now their not as bad as at first, but still prefer doing outside.
If alone I wash ext let dry (spot free water) Start interior Vac, windows, pre clean leather vinyl, dress, shampoo, Exterior clay, buff, ext dress, Ext windows, door jambs,final wipe and inspect.
If +1 Wash together 1 does int 1 does ext.
