Interior cleaning - always shampoo?

When you guys are cleaning the interior, even on a car that looks pretty good inside, do you still shampoo it regardless?

If you do just a "maintenance" shampoo of the carpet, can you generally get it done in under an hour?

I always clean the carpet and all cloth when I do my details. Think about how much dirt gets into your car in one day, dirt just destoys the interior. The cleaner you keep the interior the longer it will last. An average size car should take an hour or less when shapooing everything by hand. I use a my PC with the brush attachment and some towels it works great.

I got it from CMA, it has a wood back with the brush in that, but I think I saw a new one that is plastic on their site.

If I am doing a full detail, then I shampoo the carpets even if they appear clean. In the very least, it fluffs the carpet up nicely and I always end up getting some dirt up out of the carpet anyway.

As long as you vacuum regularly and don't spill anything in your car, you shouldn't have to shampoo the carpets more than a couple times a year if that often.

i use some stuff from bissel, you spray it on and it foams up you let it dry for about 15 or so minutes and then vacum no scrubbing it gets out light stains and does a great job deodirizing (sp) it also some how brings the dirt to the surface
