Interesting test for marine parts

Being a boating fan as well as a car and bike nut, this example of a Coast Guard test for marine starters cracked me up.
If you are not aware, one of the main difference in marine parts compared to regular automotive parts is no exposed sparks to ignite fuel vapors.

The USCG test for a starter is as follows.
1. Place the starter in a closed box.
2. Fill the box with propane and oxygen mix.
3. Operate the starter.
4. No explosion - pass.
5. Explosion - didn't pass.

Doesn't seem like there would be much need for a lot of discussion.
