Interesting Autopia Car-Care Announcement

I can see this being an attractive deal to shop owners placing frequent orders. It also helps address past complaints about slow shipping speeds etc. Its cool Autopia lisens to the voice of their customer and comes up with solutions like this one.

Interesting. I usually wail for the free shipping specials or purchase $150 to get free shipping. My wife uses Amazon Prime and she just got it on sale for $39. I'm wondering how it will effect the frequent percent off sales. All in all a very good idea for those in the full time detailing business. Keep the ideas flowing Autopia. Maybe a wholesale account like DI?

It does sound like prime. I've been a Prime member for years and it was awesome at first... then they got cheap and involved USPS to deliver their packages as well and it started going downhill. I find myself with a delayed package that I am paying 2 day shipping for more than before. As long as Autopia has a reliable carrier this could work.

I saw the email today along with the new sale... of course the sale starts one day after I place a nearly $100 order. Oh well.

I have to weigh out the benefits of this because I don't think I would really benefit from the membership. Maybe next season I'll be ordering more and can outweigh the cost. I do tend to place at least 2 orders a month usually but take advantage of the sales with free shipping often

This is an interesting announcement. 3 day shipping is great. Is there going to be a intro special?

Thanks for posting this Mark. I was actually having trouble posting from my IP address when we launched Autopia Connect (great timing right?). 3 Day shipping is huge for our west coast and mid west customers. Shipping to some parts of Arizona for example can take 6-7 business days with standard ground shipping. Add on a weekend or holiday and some of our customers are forced to wait too long to receive their products or tools. Now with an Autopia Connect membership, they can place an order and have it ship FREE with NO ORDER MINIMUM and receive it in 3 days.

Imagine getting the urge to try out a new pad and having to pay 6.95 or 7.95 or more for shipping and having to wait over a week to receive that pad! That's not the case anymore. Pay for the pad and you receive it in 3 days without paying anymore for shipping.

I got the email. I think this is Autopia's version of Amazon Prime.

,

Amazon Prime? Never heard of it ;)

We're always listening. I think I've read every single suggestion on this forum for the past 2 years and we want to continue to make Autopia better and better. Besides our west coast and mid-west customers, professionals and shop owners with the Autopia Connect membership don't have to wait for anymore shipping promotions. Just order what you need and ZERO shipping for a full year. They no longer have to worry about $150 or $125 order minimums or coupon codes or having to call during business hours to have someone take their order. If you're a business owner, this should make ordering supplies MUCH easier.

Maybe ;) I'd agree with you in that this really benefits detailing businesses and west coast customers the most, but even hobbyists or weekend warriors who spend more than $99 in shipping every year should take advantage of this. I personally know that sometimes I just want to place an order for a microfiber towel and not worry about paying $$ for shipping. This gives you peace of mind. Let everyone else who doesn't have an Autopia Connect membership stress over shipping rates and order minimums. :)

Hopefully they add some specials for members of autopia prime

Good idea :thinking

Our shipping reputation will not change. The quality, speed and efficiency we're known for will not change with an Autopia Connect Membership. Our default shipping method for 3 day expedited shipping will continue to be FedEx, with the flexibility of using UPS and USPS as needed.

Good idea for those that purchase a lot of product.

I think so too. :)

This is a great new program! I'm interested in it, just not sure I order often enough for it to be worth it, and I don't need to give myself excuses to order more ;)

ill probably do do it later, and never order from AG again. I HATE that they pack everything with those stupid foam peanuts.

So does this mean the 5.95? (Something around there) flat rate and free over 150 is going away?

Glad that I'm not the only one wondering.

I would absolutely love the membership but... I don't buy enough to warrant it right now. :(

Nope. We're actually running $6.95 flat rate shipping right now, but this does not mean we'll no longer have other free shipping or flat rate promos in the future.

Some people had speculated (or maybe wished) that AG would open up a satellite distribution center in a 3D facility so those on the west coast would get quicker orders especially for popular stuff.

This is similar to amazon prime where they have enough stock country wide to meet the 2 day delivery anywhere.

Well I won't be buying the membership. To me it's not worth it to me my volume and order frequency is too low. I can get flat rate or free shipping here or at other sites. If I were Autopia what I would do (not that anyone asked) is offer the best everyday value all the time. I'm sure I'm not the only one who looks around when look to drop a large order. Give me your best price with fair freight everyday and I'll stop looking at other sites. Use flat rate boxes when you can. Get the stuff out the door the same day as long as you get the order by noon. Just my suggestions.

Your customer service (ray) is already excellent. I have dealt with Ray and Megan and they care about their customers.

Ray, I would like to see the IT guys do what Amazon does. (other online stores may do it too)
I want to be able to log in to my Autopia account and place things in my cart. They need to remain in my account's cart until I finalize the order. I know they might remain on a device if i don't clear my browser data, but i want the cart items so any device I login to the store they are there.
I don't know how many times I've forgotten so many things waiting to have enough for free shipping or maybe a discount special.

Or even some kind of seperate wish list? It could even email you when a wishlist item goes on sale or the price drops. Optional feature / sales tool.

I use the "My Favorites" feature as a "wish list" or "shopping list", works fine.

I use My Favorites and the gift registry to store what I want.

I do agree, Shawn, I hate it when I look through a site, finally decide and walk away to come back to an empty cart. It always happens when I'm trying to pick from a few different ones too and I never remember which one I decided one. I guess a simple solution is stop doing those things when I'm about to fall asleep.

EDIT: Gearhead beat me by seconds.
