Hello Everyone! What a great day for a detail. We had highs in the low 70's. I actually wore pants. Its a great change from high 90's the past 16 days. Well this car is owned by a pastor at our church. It took a total of 7 hours to complete. It used to get detailed by the infinity/nissan dealership and it showed. I spent about 2 hours washing and claying alone.

Engine:

Sprayed down with HT APC 10:1
Meguiars versa angle brush with nxt wash scrub
rinse with hose
idled for 10 minutes/dried
dressed with #40
S+G on all painted surfaces

Vacuumed
pretreat with HT APC 20:1 and folex
oxy method
mats sprayed off with hose after oxy and then extracted
interior carpets extracted
vinyl/leather cleaner with HT APC 20:1
vinyl - VRT
leather - 4* leather conditioner
S+G on wood trim

Exterior

-Wash NXT
-clay - claymagic clay bar and poorboys clay bar.. worst claying ever
-#83 via LC VC 7.5" poishing pad on all doors / VC 7.5" light cut pad on trunk/hood/roof/fenders/bumpers (RIDS)
-PwC blue via hand
-Adams BSG via hand
-Adams Butter Wax via hand
-finish with S+G

VRT on tires/trim
#40 in wheels
IG on windows
PB WS on wheels

How does one go about getting that pattern in the floormats and carpet? Do you just go back and forth like, well, a lawnmower on grass?
 
V_Eight: you are exactly right. just switch direction with each pass.

bsdsys_x86: well im doing poorly on my adams boycott haha. It had the smell of poorboys ex that I likes so much so that was cool. The bottle stated to do the whole car and then remove with adams ds. I used adams ds to aid in removal. You really do need it to get all of the residue off so be prepared for that if your using it. It gave a pretty nice look. It was pretty reflective and wet. I wasnt shocked or dissapointed but I think it dids its job and will be used again.

I agree. I had to use the detail spray as well to help aid in the removal of the butter wax. I used the Adams Revive and Butter Wax on my car and it kinda muted the look of the flakes if you ask me. I think it looks alot better on darker color cars. BTW, haven't had the chance to use the KSG yet but plan on using AIO + KSG maybe for my winter protection. Seems to be a pretty popular combo for winter. Either that or AIO + UPP x3. Haven't made up my mind yet.
 
totally agreed on the flake muting. Could you tell this car had flake other than the one close up before/after pic? I havent had good luck with flake pop yet so Ill just keep trying new combo's.

Awesome. It takes a true detailer to make a 12 year old car look great again. Anybody can detail a newer car. What kinda extractor do you have?
 
Is that car 12 years old? If so then Im only 5 years older than it haha. I had no clue on the year. I use my dads shopvac for extraction. It has 6.5 HP and works great. I just empty the container and make sure to remove the filter. I am thinking about getting a eureka steam vac shampoo/spotter though, as well as a new 4.5 HP rigid vac.

No I sure couldn't tell the car had any flake in it besides the close ups. I just tried AIO + EX-P x 2 + Natty's x2 and the flake really pops if you ask me and also has a nice wet look in sertain light conditions. Maybe something to consider next time. Mine is silver metallic btw.
 
Adams VRT is my favorite dressing. I cant really compare it to alot because I'm one who finds something he likes and sticks with it. I would say the looks it similar to BnB but maybe a touch less glossy and IMHO lasts longer. It really looks great on the dash. It is just a sheen look. It has a lotiony consistiency to it so I dont use it in the wheel wells as I prefer a spray. IIRC I got a half gallon for like 22 bucks.

This thread should be your first case study to show clients if they want to see your work. Everything from the engine bay to interior to exterior is A+.
 
Thanks for all the comments guys. I plan on putting this on my step as an outline to what my top of the line detail intails. I will post up the link whenver I get a chance to program it all into my site.
