Indigo Pearl (dark blue metallic)

I've read some threads, but decided to join and post a question.

I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma Indigo Ink Pearl. (daily driver)

I've never had a new vehicle and all my previous vehicles were white or silver metallic.

I've used Liquid Glass with great results, but I want to be able to use a wax or synthetic wax instead of just a polish.

I've also used Meguiars #6, but I don't need a cleaner wax on a new vehicle.

My dad used Meguiars NXT on his maroon truck with awesome depth and shine, but it doesn't seem to have any protective layer and is not as slick as carnuba wax.

I'm in So. Indiana, but will be moving to So. Cali (possibly LA) this summer.

For the first application all I need is a good wax or sealant, thereafter I will need recommendations for polish or glaze, then wax.

What do you guys recommend for dark blue metallics?

p.s. I've seen some pics of cars with zaino and thought they looked plasticy.

All input is appreciated!

It's all a matter of personal opinion. There was an Electron Blue WS.6 Trans-Am posted a while ago that looked incredible.

Before you wax/seal the paint, you'll want to consider claying it. If you have questions about this or other kinds of paint prep, click the :Learn: icon at the top of your screen :

Oh, and :welcome:

Yes, clay a new vehicle. The paint may be new, but during transporting either via truck or by rail, and sitting outside on the delaer's lot, the paint will accumulate all kinds of contaminents. General test: If the paint feels rough, clay it before polishing/sealing/waxing.

I've been dying to try Martin Senour's clay system (available at NAPA). I heard it's awesome.

So we got the clay issue taken care of, what liquid hand applied polishes and waxes do you guys prefer for dark blue metallic?

After reading a the Firebird post I'm seriously considering Klasse or Meguiars NXT. If going with Klasse, should I do the AIO then the SG or what what combination works best?

I don't want a plastic or silvery look.

Hello

I own a 2000 Impala LS which is Dark Blue Metallic.

The car is outside 24/7 365 days a year. In the winter it's subjected to snow, ice and road salt. The summer months, bugs tree sap, bird droppings.

My recipe is as follows;

3M Fine Cut Cleaner

3M Swirl Remover for Dark Cars

Meguiars NXT Wax

I use a rotarty polisher with Lake Country Pads

Hope This Helps.

Send me an email and I will send you some pics

Thanks imp2000ls!

I forgot to tell everyone that I can get any 3M product because I work at NAPA. I just have never tried anything but their Perfect It - Show Car Liquid Wax #39026 and wasn't in any way satisfied with the results.

How serious are you?

Do you want sometihng you can buy locally that will have a great look and decent protection, or do you want something off the net that can be layered many times for an increased amout of depth and shine with each layer?

If you want local stuff- ColorX and NXT tech wax.

If you want internet- AIO and UPP or FMJ or WG, or EX-P, or or or or or or or :) There there is the nuba to think about :)

I'd like to layer a few times in the same day. If I'm going to do it, I want to do it right and in one day. I would also like to not wait 4 hours to let the car bake in the sun before applying another layer.

I can wait to get the product, so internet ordering is no problem.

I want a real deep mirror-like shine and want to bring out the sparkles of pearl.

and all by hand if i can. I don't have a Orbital Polisher....yet.

I think zaino is what you are looking for. I think it can be layered in the same day. Never used it myself though.

is the 24 hour cure time after using AIO and before using SG?

Or after using AIO and before using any other product such as a pure carnuba?

I normally layer a carnuba right after I apply AIO. But after your first coat of SG, you need to wait 24 hours until the next coat. :)

from what i'm gathering on this site, AIO is the best one step polish, correct?

Then the next step should be SG or a comparable sealer. Can you use a carnuba right after using SG?

Or might it be better just to skip SG and use a good carnuba with a few applications?
