"Luck" Residue of design
I put a portfolio of pictures together with a flier and hit the road with a pocket full of business cards this morning. I stopped at an insurance brokerage firm, a wheelchair bus firm and a local garage, pitching the fact that I would custom design a detailing package to fit any budget. I first introduced myself then showed the pics and my flier then handed them my card.
All of the people I talked to asked what I charge, I explained to them that in order to give them the correct and best package that would work for them that I would need to know a little about how they intend on caring for the vehicle because it wouldn't be fair to sell a show car detail to a car owner that intended to use a tunnel wash etc.etc.
In a matter of 3 hours I booked a car, an SUV, a pickup truck, a 30 foot RV and 3 shuttle buses, all of which will get a daily driver type of one step polishing detail. I guess I better lay off the marketing and get some of this work out of the way but it just goes to show that there is all sorts of work out there just for the asking and of course with a good presentation.
Being a one man band is tough but this has been a hopeful day for me. I just wanted to share it here to show some of the newer members that once you get through the initial learning curves, you should not be afraid to get out there and sell your details
