5500-6500k is considered daylight (sun +sky) on the color temp scale.
I don't think the color temp is the big thing when it comes to spotting marring (not the way it is for color-matching). IMO it's more a matter of getting just the right type of *contrast*. the other PC has posted about this before..it's the contrast effect that makes point-source illumination work so well for this particular task.
