I'm looking to step up my interior game. I have the tornado and folex. Than I use brushes. I am looking to step up to a heated carpet extractor which I use to use at a dealership and worked great or try a steamer. The streamer videos I see look more like what the tornado does. is there a big difference? I'm looking for a good use extractor around $400-600 but cant seem to find any in my area
 
YES...I went with a steamer over an extractor. An extractor may be better choice only if your extracting spills that penetrate deep.... They're always the little green machine which others rave about.

I don't find myself needing to extract carpets too often. I prefer not to soak things if I can avoid it. That being said, Ali have is a little bissel unit. Only use it for the really nasty upholstery. The mytee firebird I have though is my go to for almost everything interiors. Unlike the tornador (which is what I assume you're referring to) the steamer uses no chemicals so you don't have to worry about residue. And it works great for blowing out cracks and crevices. A lot of tough stains and crap respond to heat as well so it's a win/win. No chemicals and added cleaning power of 350 degree steam. Plus things are left dry within minutes in the case of upholstery. If I were you I'd bump the budget up a little and pickup a vx5000 like stated above or even one of those new dupray steamers like I have my eye on. I forget the name but it's in the price range of the vx
 
Is there any good videos on using a streamer over a extractor? Is there a difference between all the priced steamers?
 
I struggle with this constantly. I'm pretty comfortable with my exterior routine, but I feel like the inside is where I need the most work to cut down on time. Seems like it's pretty evenly split on steamer vs. extractor and it's not a easy decision due to the cost of the equipment (at least for a weekend warrior type)
 
There are times when an extractor is simply the right tool for the job. Ditto for a steamer, and/but they're different tools for different things.

With a *good* extractor, the chemical injection gets the liquid down *deep* into the carpet/fabric/whatever and the suction literally sucks the liquid up and out of the material leaving it very close to dry.

Steamers don't do that, they spray steam.

I have both (and I have very good commercial models and reasonably good consumer models of both units). I like both. I use the extractors (I have three in regular use) much more often, but that's just me. But honestly, I don't know how people get by without a carpet extractor, just....living life on carpets and rugs.
 
I feel like even after I use the tornado and wet vac that it doesn't get as clean. I believe I need an extractor to get the pro look at my details. is Mytee still the best for the price and quality?
