Awesome!! I can't wait to see this when it's all done. That looks like a Jambo pit -they're supposed to be the creme de la creme, so you'll have to let us know your thoughts on it.

Are most synthetics that way? What are some good ones?

I'd try FK1000p. I think Finish Kare claims durability up to 250 so you should be okay. Given how well some of these smokers are insulated and the fact that internal temps seldom top 275, it may be a good fit.

I'd use a sealant that can withstand some heat.
