I'm done with Klasse (SG)

Stick a fork in me, I'm done. I worked my *** off using my PC tonight to take care of a couple of scratches on the trunk of my Black Audi with the following steps:



Wool Pad and FII RC

Yellow Pad and SMR

White Pad and SMR

White Pad and AIO

SG by hand



After the first 3 steps (All 3 M products) the trunk was like black glass. No scratches, no swirls, nothing.



After AIO, still looked great Product goes on and off easy.



After SG, it looks like crap! I got the hazing after leaving it on for a couple of hours. Used a wet MF, then QD, and it still hazed. Trying to take care of the haze, I must have rubbed a bit aggressively, and apparently some residue or something must have blown across the car, cause now I've got some scratches again.



This stinks. Maybe it is user incompetence, but no product should be as picky as SG. PIA to take off, haze pops up, it's continual. I don't see any complaints like this for Platinum, nor for Poorboy's EX. I use S100 and what a dream product to use. I used FinishFirst before and tried some leftover on a Chrysler Van I was turning it at lease end, and I didn't experience any of these issues. Topped it with #27 and it looked awesome.



Right now, as far as waxes, I have #27, S100, FinishFirst, AIO and SG. AIO might stay, I don't know, but SG is gone.



I see some Poorboy's in my immediate future.

You must have done something wrong....



I'm guessing here but I sounds like you used way too much product...hence the hazing ......and rubbed to hard too trying to remove the overage with a bad MF.



I think the scratches may have resulted from:



1. Cheap MF

2. Dirty MF

3. MF washed improperly (solid detergent or fabric softner)

4. Label / stiching on edge of MF.



I would not write it off. It's a pretty good product...try to experiment on another car...



My friend uses it on his P-Turbo and it really looks outstanding, has the look of a polished gem....many others here swear by it.

Dude, I got the "infamous SG haze" for the first time ever the last time I used it. (I posted a thread on it) I finally came to the conclusion that I had appied too many layers too fast. Not enough curring time. The SG sometimes is unpredictable, but it holds up soooo good! Like F355 said, there are many things that could have brought out the swirls. I waited about 48hrs & then broke out the PUPP. Looks tight now.....so good that I'm gonna lay down some EX on it for the first time :D

Oh yeah........I'm gonna hang on to my SG too!!

Sam, stop by my shop and we can analyze it (and I think, fix it) together. I'm a huge fan of the Klasse Twins, and have had many successes.

I just don't get it, I have used AIO and SG for two years now on several different cars and I have never seen the haze. I put it on very, very thin, let it dry two hours before removal and wait overnight, at least, before the next coat.

It is well worth the work as it lasts 6 - 9 months and looks great the whole time.
 
Good results from SG is all in the method of application. It takes a few times to get the hang of it. I don't know anyone who got SG to go on without a hitch their first time. It took me at least 3. I wouldn't give up on it after one use. Its not picky once you get the hang of it. Its like driving a standard. Everybody kills it when they first start out. After a couple weeks its like second nature though.
 
As much as I like AIO, I dislike SG. A few weeks ago I used this combo with great results: GEPC, AIO (2X), and S100.



Before next winter I'm going to try another sealant, perhaps UPP. But, I done with SG!

Hey sam, I used it for the First time and the only thing I found was it requires lots of effort to get it off.



I think the hazing is from too much QD or QD hitting water from the WET MF cloth.

Moisture generaly causes hazing.:nixweiss

As much as I like Klasse's durability and shine, I agree that SG can be pretty finicky to work with. The haze seems to happen more during cooler weather as I would sometimes get it in the winter, but never in the spring or summer. Also, it's important to apply it EXTREMELY thin......so thin it's hard to see even on a black car. In fact, on silver it's pretty much invisible and I'm basically detailing the car "blind" (damn, talk about finicky!). Also, I've never been a fan of using the damp towel to buff the product. If you apply it thin enough and let it dry sufficiently, it wipes off easily using a soft cotton terry cloth towel. How do I know something invisible's being wiped off? I can either feel it when rubbing the towel against the surface or I run my fingers covered in saran wrap across the surface.



I would definitely give it another shot before giving up on SG, as there are many upsides to this product.

I'm surprised you are defending SG. I thought you were a big fan of UPP.
 
Mirror, SG can be removed easily using two micro fibre cloths, slightly dampen one, I use distilled water, and wipe the dried SG down and follow with a dry micro fibre. You will find the SG comes off very easily.
 
I too had some issues with removing SG this weekend. I left it on for a couple hours, but still had to use a damp MF followed by a dry one to remove the residue. I wish I had been able to leave it on longer, but I was pressed for time. I applied it as thin as I could which was made easier by the black paint. Still, it was my first time using it, and I'm sure it will get easier. I am very happy with the results though! I'm looking forward to getting it topped with some P21s/S100 soon.
 
For me, using Sonus QD to remove any stubborn SG is the best!

The Eagle W&S was better than a slightly damp MF towel, but the Sonus works with far less effort or pressure, and leaves a beautiful shine.

On a different note, my pewter 4WD Z-71 got a coat of AIO applied by PC before X-mas (on a warm day here in Georgia), and some Sonus on the hood in early March cause the water wasn't beading as well there, and in the rain today, it's still beading very well all over. So I don't think the AIO wears off near as fast as some people think, and the Sonus does very well as more than just a quick detailer.

I use the SG and Sonus on these new rims.
