Now that said It needs to be repainted to a candy apple red. 4 on the floor and the BIRD on the HOOD..

not too much to ask for is it.

I tried calling my brother, Charles. He is off doing his Grandpa thing with one or more of his children and their children but I did send off an email to him so I would think in the next day or so I will be able to give you an answer to the VIN number question.

For me an Olds 442 big block 4 speed with the Hurst T-bar shifter would do the trick. No particular year in mind but I was very fond of the '72 model.

cwcad- I congratulate you on sticking with your program. I will soon begin the eat less & exercise regimen myself. It will be tough initially I'm sure. Smokin', drinkin', & eatin' are things I'm very good at!

My high school football coach had a 1966 blue Olds 442 with white interior. It was a beautiful car and it was really fast. He ran around with my older brother who had the 65 GTO. No one ever said who was faster but I know they did put them to the test at some point of the friendship.

It is really a lot esier to lose weight if you do it with someone. My wife and I are working in tandem on this one and it is working the best that it ever has for me as well as my wife. Hope you have a team mate to work with. Good luck!!

or how about the "66" Chevelle SS.

Someday, my kids will be grown and my income will be a lil more stable -- until that time I keep wandering out to my garage where gently rests one of these babies. It's a true SS 396 Malibu convertible. It's kinda rare, being ordered with a bench seat & 4 speed (most SS Malibu convert's came with bucket seats & console) along with the optional dash (Z16) clock. The motor was gone through back in '86 -- 30 over, balanced and blueprinted (it's kinda kewl seeing a nickel stand on end at idle). It's built to cruise all day long at 75mph at 2300rpm, leaving plenty of oomph under my foot to break the tires loose if I should need to prove anything. At the same time it got upgraded front disc brakes (Daddy always said "ya wanna go go fast, ya better stop fast"). It sat for a long time after that, but was maintained by an occasional rear tire rotation combined with some high speed hair drying.

Attached is a picture when it came home from the spray booth about 5 years ago after it had it's front & rear suspensions re-done and was lovingly stripped and re-painted back to the factory Marina Blue (only year for this color). Being a single parent raising 3 kids means sacrificing, so this is the stage it's been quietly sleeping under hand-me-down, "me-ma" quilts ever since. It's spent a long time sleeping in the last 15 years, and will need the engine seals replaced upon it's final reassembly, but with less than 4000 miles on the motor, a new suspension, my heavy foot, and less than 10 years till my youngest will be 18, I know it wont be all that long 'till that dream of once again grabbing my surfboard and taking a cruise up PCH becomes a reality.... until then I'm happy knowing I have a wonderful retirement package quietly resting in the garage :)

1967-1969 Camaro in perfect (or as near to it as you can get) condition. It's the only car I can really say I've ever "dreamed" about.
I was thinking along the same lines JP on the camero..my next choice would have been a 68 Cutlass 442..Some have seen my pics of my 71 olds Cutlass w/55,000 miles..it has a 4 in the floor hurst stick with its original 350 rocket engine and runs like the day it was purchased..

The day i brought her home .

cwcad, Thank you for the comments..

As i sit here and ponder back thinking of all the chain of events that have happened to me by me for what ever circumstances, I have not done so badly... I'm not doing as well as most of you out here but the choices were of my own choosing, and I have made some duzzies in my life... some still effect me today. I try to keep a "That was then and this is Now" kind'a attitude..it helps.. in till i think of this one item i use to own.

I have had cars in the past that I think about...a few I miss as an old friend others I miss as a family members.

A glimpse in to my history
Back then all my friends would go for the Chevy's and Fords (Camaro and Fire Chickens) and being down in Kentucky/ Tennessee area this type of thinking is/was normal... for that time (mid to late 70's). Dodge was only though of as a work truck and only on a chicken farm rarely did you ever see a Dodge or chrysler product on the road and if you did it was a gold New Yorker going to Church and the occupants were of money. back then I owned a 1970 Barracuda Grande Coupe 440. a rare car for that time and place... now it's just a memory, a fond memory.

for those who don't know what a Cuda is here are a few images.
These images were used from muscle car finders.com for an example only.

Cuda's were a rare thing that is for sure. Although rare I do not think forgotten. For if I remember a Cuda there are others as well.

Nice pictures!!

Charles

Well Charles, my brother returned my email today. He even gave me his
VIN number of the vehicle. Unfortunately it did not match. The last thing my brother said in the email was that he was not surprised since his GTO is a 1966. Guess I was and have been full of it for a lot of years. I always said it was a "65". Now I am told it is a "66". I feel a little sheepish
